HMV

HMV was a leading music CD stores selling vogue western music and also less popular music such as jazz, vinyl and classical, was one of the biggest music shops in Hong Kong. However, as we rely more on the internet and music downloading, the shops selling music CD soloed are no longer survive, include this famous big brand.
That’s why HMV made a big move to turn the shop to another style, the shop in isquare establishs a premium corner to sell professional acoustic equipment such as amplifier and loud speaker. If they are not your cup of tea, you can also go check the life style corner where full of playful and stylish goods. That is a travelers’ equipment shop in my eyes: travel pillow with speakers and earphone set, go-​pro outdoor camera, passport holder and rucksacks etc. Though something like notebook, tee and camera bag can be used in daily life, overall is a stylish shop for outgoing people.
I think the change is good, it helps the shop survive, I can almost imagine how expensive the rent is in isquare and that isn’t a small shop. On the other hand, I’m impressed that HMV continue to sell various choices of music, that’s why it is still one of my favorite CD shops.
