Genki Sushi is one of my favorite places to have sushi — it’s definitely not the most traditional or authentic Japanese restaurant, but it’s cheap, fast and delicious so that’s good enough for me! Genki charges by the number of plates that you eat — basically, you get a dish at the conveyor belt and when you’re done eating, you don’t return the dish. Each dish is a different color, with each color representing a different price, and when you call for the bill the waiter will count the number of dishes you have on your table. I like this system because it stops people from wasting food. I’m not a huge eater, so typically I don’t end up paying more than $ 60 or $ 70 which to me is a reasonable price. My favorite things to eat at Genki are their salmon sushi, the steamed egg, the salmon skin hand roll and the Genki maki. I especially love the Genki maki — it’s basically sushi wrapped with salmon, and inside there’s salmon skin. The crunchiness of the salmon skin goes really well with the salmon. I normally get two plates of this because it’s so good! Sometimes I find that the salmon does not taste very fresh though. Genki is a pretty popular place so you will almost always have to get a number and wait in line if you’re eating at typical lunch or dinner hours. Genki also has a loyalty program where if you spend enough accumulatively, you can become a member and get 10% off your meals — so that’s basically no service charge. They even have an app to record your spendings, which you can download on your phone!
