+: super friendly(despite the English language barrier) owner —: Long queues, especially during lunch time +: tasty pork chop buns(猪趴包) that are made to order, hot, and served with a freshly toasted bun and sliced veg —: tomato beef soup(鮮茄牛肉湯公仔麵), while made to order, is a bit wan and bland +: pork chop rice(豬扒飯) filling, succulent, and nicely spiced with(of five-spice? cumin? ??) —: cash only and the opening times are a bit mercurial ++++: the owner’s cats are cute and chill as f*ck Tip: The address is a bit misleading; the entrance actually faces Tai Ping Shan st, not Hollywood Road. Just follow your nose!

According to my check ins I’ve been here 6 times, I guess it’s time for a review? This place has been around for years, there is a photo of the shop in the same location with the same décor dating from God knows when. When you think of waitstaff in HK local establishments you often think of rude, impatient and overall grumpy people. Not here though, they are some of the oldest and most mellow staff I have ever encountered — not the fastest movers but id take the over random abuse. Onto the food. The pork chop, dear lord the glorious pork chop. Seriously the best I’ve had in HK, they have some amazing marinade and even the simplest option with just pork chop and rice will blow your mind. They also offer with choi sum(green veg), or tomato(my fav combo). If you’re lucky they will also have Chinese soup available but often this sells out early. The satay beef sandwich is also good, their milk tea is actually quite renowned as well. But my heart goes to that pork chop. They are open only until about 3.30pm on weekdays and during peak lunch hours aka 12.30−2pm, expect about an half hr queue then maybe another 20 min for food to come out. I thought they weren’t open on weekends but walked past one Saturday and well, there was queue — so I know where I’ll be if I ever get any cravings on weekends!

Glad that I came with friends who also enjoyed eating. Earlier on a Saturday morning, and we were able to easily get a table for four of us. Food: Corned Beef with Egg sandwich(we each ate one) –asked if we wanted fresh beef($ 45) or corned beef($ 13) — decided to try corned beef first –asked if we wanted it toasted –asked if we wanted crust I picked toasted with crust and it was really good. Really liked the flavor and the egg wasn’t too cooked which was nice. Not too salty and perfect amount of flavor. Pork Chop Bun –helped us cut in four(4 of us shared) –comes with fried pork chop, tomato, mayonnaise –simple, but nothing I would call home about –of the three sandwiches, I preferred the other two more than this one Satay Beef(fresh beef, and not corned beef) with onion sandwich –really enjoyed the flavor –tasted like a beef dish put in a sandwich which I liked –beef was perfected cooked and tender. not tough in anyway Milk tea with condensed milk –a bit too much condensed milk –would probably ask for them to be light on the condensed milke –tea flavor was good Prices were very reasonable, and though there was starting to be a wait, they didn’t rush us. Four of us total had 4 corned beef with egg sandwich, 1 pork chop bun, 1 satay beef with onion sandwich and 4 drinks and total was $ 43 per person.(total: $ 172)
