Lots of variety here, and I don’t think this should all be under one Unilocal review. I believe each stall should be its own page. That being said, this is what we have, so this is what we’ll make do with. Had: Jumbo tomato soup noodle from Tomato Club($ 66HKD) — changed it to instant noodles, free of charge. Looks like it could feed two. Could only feed about 1.5. Unlike my Fairwood tomato soup fiasco, this tomato soup was not bad. It was slightly sweeter, and had a lot less Italian herb blend in it. Toppings on the soup included: beef brisket(slightly dry, but tasty), smoked duck breast(one large slice, not too salty, but not enough duck flavor), imitation crab meat stick, pork balls, broccoli, mushrooms, scrambled egg. The scrambled egg is intentionally runny. They do not make this to order. They ladle it out the way one does cream of corn soup. That’s what I initially thought it was. For an extra $ 6HKD, we added squid balls and mushrooms(pre-set combination). I have no problem with the amount they gave us for that extra cost, but I have a slight issue with what they call mushrooms. The original noodle dish came with at least one mushroom. We paid for extra mushrooms. Plural. We ended up with two mushrooms in our soup. Please do not pluralize if you don’t mean multiples. Minced spicy pork soup noodle from Noodle and Congee($ 30HKD) — quite tasty. Liked the inclusion of the large piece of boiled lettuce. Liked that they had a sauce station where I could load up on the diced green onions. Didn’t like the portion so much. So far in HK, I’ve had two bowls of wonton noodles(the type of noodle, not the wontons themselves), and both bowls have been about the size of a substantial snack. For the price, I won’t complain too much, but I’m in Hong Kong. I’m expecting a good sized bowl of wonton noodles for a good price. Otherwise, I’ll just eat them in Toronto. Taro and Seafood fried rice from Chili and Spice Thai Cuisine — I don’t know how much this one costed. Probably around $ 50HKD. Good wok heat. Good amount of seafood and taro. Good portion. Not sure where this one was from, but I had a bottled Minute Maid mango juice. The first three ingredients listed were: water, sugar, orange juice. Um… I see an issue here. Thankfully, it still tasted mostly of mango. All in all, Food Republic is probably my favorite food court ever, cuz they have so many choices, and most of them are incredibly reasonably priced. The eating area is clean and cleanup is efficient.
