Another lazy day in Tai Wai paradise, and you’re craving some quintessential Hong Kong beef brisket noodles. Where to go? 鹿苑粉麵餐廳. This place is the bomb for boss beef noodle soups. I’m a little fussy with my soups, so when I tell you that this place has some delicious soup to drench your noodles in, you shouldn’t take this opinion lightly. The broth is full of flavour from the rendered beef fat, and sadly, never enough for me… Much to my boyfriend’s chagrin, I often finish the soup and leave the brisket or other cow bits at the bottom of the styrofoam bowl.
That’s not to say that the beef brisket isn’t good — it’s fine. Although, sometimes I do have a bad day and get a lot of fatty bits of beef which I don’t really appreciate. Sometimes I go for half brisket and half innards, including the tripe, liver, and — my favourite — the lungs. The rich fatty parts of the lung just adds to the soup (how many times have I said soup in this review.!) and I’m usually in a food coma after finishing this up.]
You can also call them about 15 or so minutes in advance and pick up a takeaway bowl of noodles if you so desire. Just don’t forget the chili sauce!
