So I have mixed reviews on my first experience at this restaurant. I would give it a 3.5 if I could, but not a 4. GOFORTHEOYSTERS/THEY WEREGREAT! I love oysters and have all my adult life. What I liked about this spot was that I learned something about oysters. When ordering them on the halfshell, their oyster board shows the different types of oysters they serve(Ostre D’or, Anselin, Divine, La Biote a Bijoux, etc.). All of the ones available hail from France and the server gave me a platter or six different types to try and taste. Never have I ever had someone explain to me the subtle tastes of different oysters. They were absolutely delicious and I really found them cold, fresh and great quality. They did not cracker or sauce or even lemon… they were that good. So as the name implies«Château Aqua Oyster & Wine,» I had a vision of a restaurant with a great wine list, fresh oysters, menu dishes full of oyster and fish entrees. Short of raw oysters, there are little to no options for oyster or fish dishes on their menu. We did have their mussle appetizer(which was one if not the only seafood item on the menu other than raw oysters) and they were delicious. They have an expansive menu of options from salad to pizza to steak. But again, implied by the name of the restaurant, we were expecting more of an oyster/fish flair on the menu. Also, there was no wine list. There are wines by the glass and wines by the bottle available, but the waiter simply made a reccomendation. There was nothing in print to see or read. Again, implied by the name of the restaurant, we were at the very least expecting to see a wine list. Just kind of bizarre really. The restaurant seems spacious, open, comfortable and gets great natural light. The staff seemed nice and friendly. Come to find out it has been open for about four months and it shows little ware and seems new in many ways. They were busy with lots of people socially getting together(we saw friends together for a birthdy gathering, we saw work friends occupying a table for a drink, we saw a couple eating oysters and drinking wine). If I walked into a steak restaurant and they only had only one steak option and served pizza, chicken and fish(even if it was a fantastic steak!), I would have the same perplexed feeling. They need to amp up the oyster options(maybe some fried or served in a salad, etc) and figure out a wine list or wine board at the least to justify the name. If the name was«French Oysters meets Great American Fare»…my expectations would have been in line with what we actually experienced versus«Château Aqua Oyster & Wine.» We will go back sometime and I think we would simply eat oysters and drink champagne… I think they have champagne, but I dont know because they did not have a wine list.
