Gone was the time when the nightly staple for young people was a trip to the karaōke. In its heyday there was the red box, green box, neway and this the Neway CEO– was a separate entity all in itself. this place was the first, if I could remember correctly, built from scratch establishment which was fitted with the sole purpose of being a karaōke bar(on this scale anyways). The selling point back then included the private toilets– which usually ended up as the ultimate cesspool in the after hours and the K-dinner ritual whereby you got free food with your standard charge per head. It was more costly but this whole place really gave you the feeling of being just that bit nicer than at other kareokes hence business was good. As time passed by there are now more upstairs bars, smaller and private«clubs» which offer similar service for the same price(or a little bit more) — this place just became or felt more mainstream. It didn’t offer anything that special. However, I think along with other reviewers, this place still holds its place as being the king of the kareokes because it was and always will be the poshest one. Even though we know there are better ones out there this place still beats everywhere in terms of location, flexibility(no closing hours) and that toilet is so wonderful when you have had too much to drink.

If you’re looking for one of the nicer karaōke clubs in Hong Kong, CEO is a good option. I was invited to this place by a friend when I was visiting Hong Kong a few years back. I thought at that moment that all places looked like this. When I moved here, I was quick to learn that was far from truth. CEO is just more presentable. Its situated on the corner of the block in Causeway Bay, across the road from Victoria Park. It has a capacity to hold roughly 600 people over several floors. The rooms are spacious surprisingly private. The song selections are plenty in both Chinese and English. As usual with most karaōke places in Hong Kong, CEO offers different specials throughout the day. There is a lunch buffet, tea buffet, and evening buffet all for reasonable prices. If you’re not there for the food, you have other options. For those strictly there for singing your heart out and boozing with friends, you’d be happy to know that the price you pay per hour is also how much credit you have towards ordering your own bottles of vodka or whiskey. They have a few choices for mixers you can choose to come along with your alcohol. If you drink over your credit, you would just have to settle the bill in the end. One thing to note, is that you need to be a member in order to book a room here. If you’re not a member, that isn’t a big issue. All you need to do is pay the ‘member’s fee’ of $ 10HKD, fill out a small form, and voilà, you’re set. Be sure to book at least a few days in advance if you’re looking to have a big group with you during the weekends and especially during holidays. The staff here are nice and friendly. Most can communicate with you in English and all very happy to help. The overall cleanliness of the establishment is good. I would definitely recommend this place to people that enjoy a good karaōke session in Hong Kong.
