If you love a good pasta, Caffe Pascucci in Langham is the spot to be. Situated on the 12th floor of the mall, Pascucci is actually a great place to catch up with a friend over lunch — it’s not an enclosed restaurant and the tables and chairs are just placed outside near the escalators, but the overhead glass makes for a cool view and is especially nice when it’s a nice day and the sunshine hits through it. Pascucci has a ton of different types of pastas, many of which I admit I’ve not even heard before. Taglierini, fiocchetti, garganelli — all this is new to me! A friend and I were here today and said that she’s been here a couple of times before and that the pastas are all really good. The menu was a little overwhelming — so many pastas — but in the end, I just went with my favorite — a good olé lasagna. My friend had the strigoli with pesto sauce. The food came pretty quickly, which was great because we were both starving. I’d left the house on an empty stomach since I was in a rush leaving. Maybe I was just particularly hungry, but the lasagna tasted amazing. It was cheesy, meaty and beautifully layered — every bite was a sheer pleasure. If anything, I would have wanted it to have even more cheese because I absolutely adore cheese, but it was great as it is. The portion was decent — not too big but not tiny either. I had a little bit of my friend’s strigoli, which tasted pretty good as well. The strigoli was cooked to be just right — not chewy, but definitely not soft to the point of being soggy. I thought the pesto sauce was a little on the salty side though. Although the pasta was a little pricy — my lasagna was $ 80, and though I found the portion just right, I’m not a big eater so others may find it small — I felt that it was worth it because it really was seriously good lasagna. I’ll definitely make it a point to come back to Pascutti when I’m at Langham again!
