Cafe Ancient

Loft like chill interior design. Good hangout place for group of friends living in the neighborhood or wanting to escape the city nightlife. Flavorful paella with lots of seafoods (but not authentic). Super fresh and delicious salad. Has a variety of coffee, tea and fun drinks. Creative atmosphere and creative food. Will definetly visit again for brunch.

Running in stylish vintage style, painted in grey, decorated with old stuff such as typewriter, jalopy toys, a red telephone stand, Café Ancient is a hidden gem in Tai Wai — the area you can only think of chicken hot pot. If this cosy café the one opened in Central, it can be a hip spot easily, after all, the trendy cafes we read in magazine are all came from there.
Back to Tai Wai the coffee shop, you can find something more special, something those in Central are lack with — the neighborhood vibe. The location — Chik Fu Street is just few steps away from ever-​busy Tai Wai Mtr station, is a side street made up of restaurants (includes the super busy Xin Dau Ji) in one side and small resting area on the other side, so you see people in everyday clothes, in every ages, doing daily things. When I was sitting outdoor — the area I like most, I enjoy listening noise from cars or looking the passing by, felt like I am connected to the community, the atmosphere was just strangely peaceful.
Indeed, this space was set up as a platform for community to join together — they do consignment sale and music live show every Friday. Feel free to talk to the staff, they are all friendly and super nice. They have free wifi and plugs, is an awesome place for freelancers to work, for friends to meet and for oneself to chill. Once you step into Café Ancient, you will literally kick back and just relax.
