Wow. As a vendor who has not DJed here in a few years I was supposed to experience friendliness from the security guards, the valets, two managers, and wait staff. I hope it’s not a fluke but it feels genuine and professional. I appreciate it very much.

I really hate how they made me more than 30 mins just to make reservations. The receptionist, Stephanie, was plain rude to me. I’m a local trying to reserve a room, but she totally ignored me when I was next in line. And called in the tourist. I know that we should prioritize them but you know I was in line first than them.

Pro– The PIC is a gorgeous hotel. The staff were very friendly and courteous the entire time. The show offered a lot of audience participation. Con– When we made the reservation, we were not told the stage was under construction and would be dining in a temporary tent. Stage was poorly made and the seating was crowded. Buffet was swarmed with flies and little was done to cover food prior to serving it. The dancers performance was not great, and the costumes were sloppy. Also, some pretty serious food poisoning. Personal Note– The Pacific Island Club is geared towards a primarily Asian audience. As Americans from the States, we felt very out of place.

The hotel is located in the middle of the strip, while most of the action, is located towards the northern part of the strip. However, there are shuttles and taxis available to take you to places along Pale San Vitores Road as well as other parts of the island. It was surprising to see that the deluxe rooms(reportedly listed as $ 900 a night [Yeah, right!] but given to us at a discount of $ 250 per night) in the Royal Tower still had the old fashioned tube TVs rather than the more modern flat screens. Forget about getting a room at the Oceana B Tower. In addition to tube TVs, the double beds were old, springy, and the sheets had holes in them! The bathroom was elevated(dangrous when getting out) with a low ceiling and leaking faucets. Sure the waterpark is at the front door of Oceana B, but it’s also the furthest(compared to the other rooms) from the lobby and all the other establishments. I don’t know if this is the norm on Planet Guam, but free wifi in the rooms is non-existent. You can only get it at the lobby(Funny sight to see everyone hanging out there just trying to get wi-fi!) and even the connection there is a bit sketchy. If you want to satisy your hunger pangs, then stop by the Café Express kiosk located next to the Royal Tower elevator entrance in the Lobby. The sub sandwiches are one of the best and freshest I’ve ever tasted(Beats both island«Subs» by a mile!). With it’s soft bread and thinly sliced meat, it is well worth the money($ 7.50) spent. And If it’s a waterpark you’re after, then I highly recommend PIC, because the waterpark is the most complete one on Planet Guam!

I love this hotel because of the waterpark. I remember when I was really young, my parents used to take me here all the time and we would stay in the hotel like tourists. I remember kayaking in the little river, playing ping pong, running across the floating mats on the water to see who can last the longest before losing balance and falling into the water, riding the water slides, laying on the hammocks, etc. I finally got to come here again this past summer, since I moved to the states about 9 years ago. Everything is still there: D The tourists, the kayaking, the slides, the pools. And as far as the hotel, they have free wifi in the lobby so I hung out there a lot. We got to stay in PIC for one night, but compared to other hotels I’ve been too, the room that we stayed in was nothing too special other than the view of the beach! Though this has always been one of my favorites hotels on Guam!

I had best time of my life staying at the PIC for a week for a volleyball tournament. Simple rooms that look kind of old, but they give you that island style feel to it. Ate breakfast every morning in my bikini on the balcony. The Club staff/lifeguards are so friendly and SOMUCHFUN! Made a lot of friends that week. Two of the club guys took me and my friend out into the ocean on an outrigger as the sun was getting ready to go down. It was soooo beautiful, a kind of memory I’ll never forget. They also played a lot of sand volleyball with us. Love love loved the water slides and the fun floating games. My girls especially loved the floating ladder and the tug-o-war. It’s just as fun at night time too! Hammocks, white sand, clear water, and good company. What more do you need?

My family and I stayed at the PIC3 years ago when we were visiting my brother, here in Guam. We had a wonderful time. It was magical for the kids, who were 4 and 6 at the time. They loved playing mini-golf. They loved the little canoes, and my 6 year old loved the archery. They also were treated to little games by the«club members» and won shell necklaces that my youngest sill owns. One disappointment was that the pool with the waterslides was closed for repairs, but my kids were so small, that they had plenty of fun in the kiddie pool. There were lots of big foam/plastic animals to climb on and plenty of kids to play with. My favorite thing about the PIC is that there are lifeguards stationed all over the place, and they are very serious about their work. I was able to relax and enjoy myself more, knowing that they were looking out for the kids. Another fun memory was watching the fire-dancers from the balcony of our room. I’m a seasoned enough traveler to know not to bother paying for a seat at a buffet and fire-show — especially with children. But as a view, from the balcony, every night — it was lovely. This time we’re here, we’re staying with friends but we got day passes for the water park. The kids remembered the PIC and wanted to visit again! Again, we had a wonderful time. The slides were open this time and the lifeguards were as plentiful and watchful, as I remembered. Now, with 7 and 9yr old kids, I was able to sit and play cards and relax, while the kids had the time of their lives with their cousins. I highly recommend the PIC for either a hotel stay, or just to visit the waterpark if you have children… now, if there are no kids that’s another story. There are probably better choices here on this gorgeous island.

I grew up visiting the Pacific Islands Club and Hotel on Guam, and saw it grow from 2 pools to a great waterpark. While the hotel itself is a little older, the tropical waterpark, beach and setting is a perfect place for families and tourists. When you’re not sliding down the waterslides, playing water volleyball, or watching the island show… find an empty hammock and take a nap under the coconut trees. Aahh… a great getaway when you’re visiting the island.
