I’m a sucker for ceramic anything. The proprietor of this shop, Ursula Rhensius, makes some truly, lovely vessels. I was especially fond of the wide-mouthed cups for ‘café au lait’(14 €) and, a slightly smaller version, for ‘cappucino’(12 €). Vases, bowls, cylindrical mugs, egg cups, large plates, etc. are all on display. The front room seemed to have a bit more of the functional pottery whereas the back room contained a bit more of the arty pieces and jewelry. One, if I am correct, may also place special orders. A series of egg cups, perhaps? Why not? My favorite design by Ursula happened to be the wee piggies(8 € per) with open-holed nostrils and a cork plug/tale at the back that are meant to be salt dispensers. The little pigs are full of character and, of course, super cute. If one is cooking and the recipe calls for a pinch of salt, well, sprinkle some from the pig’s nose into your cooking and there you have it! Also fun is that one is able to see into the back work room where Ursula fills her kiln with ceramic delights. I happened to catch her while she was loading the kiln and it was a fun reminder that ceramic-ware, in the beginning, is a drab white color. Seemingly not that remarkable. Only after firing and glazing do the pieces really come alive!
