Eine Übernachtung mit Frühstück hat uns begeistert. Es ist nicht preiswert, aber sehr schön. Alles ist sauber, schön dekoriert, das Personal sehr freundlich und das kleine Frühstück ist besser als in manchem 4-​Sterne-​Hotel. Wir kommen wieder.

Dieses kleine, urige Fachwerkhaus besticht nicht nur von außen mit dem niedlichen Charme, sondern auch mit einer wohligen Atmosphäre im Inneren. Umgeben von diversen Hexenfiguren und dem passenden musikalischen Hintergrund lässt es sich hier deftig und lecker essen. Feuerfleisch, Baba Jaga-​Spieß oder Hexenteller stehen auf der Speisekarte, hinter den gruseligen Bezeichnungen verbirgt sich eine gut bürgerliche deutsche Küche. Die Preise zwischen 7 bis 11 € sind für die üppigen Portionen top, Dienstags gibt es Fassbier fast geschenkt und am Donnerstag laden Schnitzelangebote zum Speisen. Eine Reservierung empfiehlt sich aufgrund der beschränkten Räumlichkeiten.
Tipp: Auch ein Besuch im Restaurant Herrenhaus oder der Badescheune empfiehlt sich!

Overpriced. Terrible service. We were looking forward to a romantic weekend. Our simply (IKEA)-furnished apartment cost almost 100 Euros a night but we wanted to indulge in something special. Unfortunately, extra costs kept coming up.
20 Euros for final cleaning
16 Euros breakfast for two (bread rolls were dry)
3.50 Euros/​day parking fee
and to top it off, 8.50 Euros for using the fireplace/​wood stove.
If you sum up all these extra costs, you’re adding another 40% per night! This might have been alright if at least the service was goodbut it wasn’t. Despite the extra fee for the wood stove usage and the cleaning cost (which the person before us must have had to pay as well), the stove was dirty. But we didn’t want to be those people that complain as soon as they arrive, so we cleaned it and were looking forward to a cozy evening in front of the fire. Only none of the few pieces of wood provided fit in the tiny oven. And there was nothing, not even a match, to get the fire going. We went to the reception to ask for wood. The brisk answer we got was ‘well, where am I supposed to get it?’. Eventually we got sent to the Herrenhaus restaurant next door in order to go beg them for some wood ourselves. They, at least, were helpful.
The next day we told the staff that we were disappointed to have a dirty stove in the room and nothing to get it lit. We also let them know that we cleaned the stove ourselves. None of the staff even thought about apologizing for the shortcomings in their service and simply said that wood would be provided. We found this reaction to be unacceptable, especially when they charge so much for the room!
The terrible service, combined with the pile-​up of extra charges did not make us feel very welcome. We felt more like every available opportunity was being used to make more money off us. The charges for cleaning and breakfast are slightly more understandable, but for a room price that high at least the parking and the oven use (in winter!) should be included. And we weren’t the only ones who thought so. The couple at the neighboring breakfast table was less than amused about their final bill, especially the additional parking fee.
Conclusion: There’s places out there with better value for money. At least then there will be no surprises when it comes to paying the bill.

Das Hexenhaus gehört neben dem gegenüber liegenden Aparthotel zum Kräuterhexlein, dem Gasthof Herrenhaus, dem Katzenhaus und der Badescheune zum Ensemble historischer Häuser, die durch das Architekturbüro Schumann & Kurth restauriert wurden. Neben dem kleinen urigen Restaurant kann man auch Zimmer im Obergeschoss mieten. Wir hatten allerdings ein Zimmer in der Badescheune gebucht, da wir an einem Abend die Sauna dort nutzen wollten. Damit steht dann aber vor dem Frühstück ein kurzer Spaziergang an, denn dieses gibt es im Restaurant des Hexenhauses. Das vielfältige und qualitativ ebenfalls sehr gute Frühstücksbuffet haben wir sehr genossen und länger als eigentlich geplant verweilt.
Leider kamen wir nicht dazu auch einmal den normalen Restaurantbetrieb zu testen, da wir ohnehin schon volles Programm hatten. Die Speisekarte verspricht jedoch einen deftig regionalen Genuss. Wenn die Qualität so ist, wie das Frühstück, dürfte es da überhaupt nichts zu meckern geben.
Auf jedenfall ist das Ambiente allein schon einen Besuch wert — und vorsicht — beim Betreten den Kopf an der Tür einziehen!!! ;-)
