Don’t know why the review scores are so low, but for us, it was a perfect place to rest your feet and have a great lunch(and beers too!) after the tour at Eiffel Tower. We were very happy with it.

Skip this restaurant! I am not a food snob by any means, but the food here is very poor. I had a Côte de boeuf at the commendation of the waiter who said it was very tender. It was dry, tough and chewy. My husband and daughter had a cheeseburger that was like the ones I buy at the Super U! The service was prompt, but does not overcome the poor food. There are better places in Paris to dine. It’s close to the Eiffel Tower and they take advantage of the passing tourist.

Don’t do it. We stopped in for lunch and it was reminiscent of airport food. Terrible stale baguette sandwich. Tourist trap. Look elsewhere

This is a tourist trap. Terrible service and price too high for mediocre food. Had steak fries, it was very thin and the meat was hard. € 8,50 for a light coke. There are very good options a few blocks away, don’t come here.

My husband and I had been walking around for some time already and we had just been to the Effiel tour by foot so you can imagine, we were getting a bit hungry and ended up here. The Food was Just ok ! I had this Sausage with a salad and mashed potatoes and my husband had a Sandwich, not delicious but we were starving. If I choose I rather had gone else were…

L’endroit est bien situé(derrière la Tour Eiffel) et les prix né sont pas trop exorbitants comparé à ce qu’il se fait dans Paris(la pinte à 7,5 € dans ce café). Notre serveur était très sympa et marrant qui plus est.

Very good and won’t break the bank. Traveling is always expensive so when you find a bargain I rave and make a second trip. I thought this place was great and cost effective.

19 of us strolled in here on a Monday afternoon and experienced great service. We started off with bottles of champagne, which were delicious but pricey as expected. However, only half of us were happy with our food. My personal experience was not a good one. I got the steak frites and the steak lacked flavor and was very chewy, kind of like rubber. It wasn’t completely terrible but it wasn’t good either. Food prices were moderate but I felt feel like I was eating at a diner(I would never order steak at a diner), although the place looks more like a casual restaurant. Our server was great though so I do recommend coming here but don’t order the steak.

Meh… Knew it was a tourist trap but went in for convenience. Atmosphere is all right, servers were curt but all business, food was average as expected but the two stars are were due to the price tag. Would have been fine with 35 but paying 50 for three sandwiches and cofee felt a bit steep, even for Paris. Few restaurants around that would be worth your time and money, would avoid if you can help it.

I’m glad I didn’t read the Unilocal reviews first or I wouldn’t have tried this place. It was cold and raining so I didn’t want to venture far from the hotel. It’s not high tourist season yet so they weren’t busy but there were enough customers that it seemed safe to try. They made a reasonably good Kir Royale and the ¼ chicken wiith fries was tasty. 24 Euros total. Some might say that’s a bit high but the exchange rate is attractive these days. The young lady at the next table had French onion soup and spaghetti with meat sauce hat looked much better than the spaghetti in the photos that are posted here so perhaps there has been a recent improvement. I asked her in my broken French and she said it was good. The service was fine. Not gushing and friendly but certainly courteous. They didn’t complain when I moved to a table by the window(It wasn’t clear if I should wait to be seated) and they didn’t rush me out. I noticed how the young lady motioned for her check when she was finished so I did the same when I was finished. I will go back to try the French onion soup and the spaghetti.

We tried the three course meal that started with a salad and then had the cheeseburger and fries. It was overcooked and the fries were really dry. I will never come back. It was close to the Eiffel tower and that is the high light.

Entirely too high priced! A baguette and a coke cost € 19! When I asked why so much, he said, «Paris». That’s why they didn’t put a price next to the drinks! Service was poor. Baguette was stale. Should have read reviews before going in! That’s what happens when you don’t have data always available. I love the fact that I’m using the Wi-fi here(the only good thing) to post a negative review.

Ok so I know im a foreigner BUT I couldn’t believe the way they treated us at this place. When we walked in we ordered two beers at the bar(16 €)…we thought maybe we’d stay awhile and have a few more but they then told us we arent allowed to sit down. There were tons of empty tables everywhere, but we literally have to stand at the bar and drink our beers. As I type this in staring at an empty table 3 ft away from me, but we arent allowed to even sit. Unreal. Welcome to France I guess…

I am surprised by the negative reviews here. Yes, it’s an expensive café, but the location shouldn’t make that a surprise. It’s right around the corner from the Eiffel Tower, after all. The food was good, but the service is what gave it the 4th star, for us. The waiter was exceptional and very patient with our children. Yes, the smoking is a bother, but that is not the fault of the restaurant. My children and husband all got the steak frites(just say medium rare, and you’ll be fine) and I got the salmon salad on toast points. We were all happy with our choices.

The service was terrible, the prices were terrible, the food was bland, and there was cigarette smoke in our faces the whole time we ate. When trying to ask if the establishment took credit cards, my mother was brushed off by two waiters who were standing talking to each other and made to wait seven minutes for the only waiter who seemed to be working to answer get question. I ordered the French onion soup and got some vague broth with shredded parmesan the slightest hint of onion. We asked the waiter why there was no onion in the soup and he replied«they don’t really know how to do that here.» Would not recommend.

We did Eiffel and being Paris in May, of course it rained. We were lucky it started right after we finished though. However it ws COLD and we needed some coffee and snacks. Being right around the corner from Eiffel, we popped in to dry off and warm up. Coffee and croissants were ridiculously overpriced, but again they are in Eiffel territory. Coffee was good, but croissants were eh. Our local bakery near our flat had much better and fresher ones for one euro!

Hey guys !!! I really enjoyed this place: Le Castel Café … It is a typical French«Brasserie» where you can eat and drink. I liked the food: I ordered a kind of French Sandwich: «croque Monsieur» it was good(I was hungry at the beginnig but at the end I was full!) with a chocolate desert(home made of course). The Bill wasn’t as expensive as I excepted(in fact it is almost under the Eiffel Tower) Waiters are handsome and proue of their culture If I can give you some advice: go to this place(Castel Café) !

May be like me, you’ve also been told by friends that there are no bad restaurants in Paris — they are wrong b/c here’s proof. There’s much better use for € 30 than shoe-leather steak frites dinner at Castel café.

Le Castel Café sits only blocks away from the Eiffel Tower, but the food isn’t nearly as good as the location. The café is classic Parisian; quaint tables tucked closely together with attentive service from waiters dressed in vests and bow ties. The menu contains all the classics of French cuisine, we opted for Escargot, crepes, and a cheese platter. The food just does not match the elite standard the city has set for itself. Never settle for ordinary, especially not in Paris.

Overpriced… but they can get away with it because it’s a short walk from the Eiffel Tower. A few friends and I did a whirlwind(24 hour layover) tour of France. On our way to climb the Eiffel Tower we got pretty hungry so decided to stop at a Parisian Café(mainly because it sounds bad ass to say you stopped off at a Parisian Café…) So we sat down and ordered a lot! We knew it wouldn’t be cheap, but hey we were in Paris, might as well live it up. I’m not a coffee guy so I got hot chocolate. Double hot chocolate to be exact. Basically it was just twice as big and came in an awesome porcelain chalice. It was pretty good. We also got: The cheese platter. Can’t go wrong there. Strawberry Nutella Crêpe: not the best I’ve had, but still good. Escargot. kind of small for my taste, but still good. Crème Brûlée. Easily the worst of the bunch. The service was pretty good, but the prices were pretty darn high. But like I said they can get away with that because of the location.

I happened upon this café while walking back to my hotel from the Eiffel Tower and I thought it was fine. So many of the cafes are similar with similar offerings that I don’t think I found a new favorite when I was in Paris. I had a baguette(a little too crunchy) with Emmental and a coffee. I just needed something small. Something of a celebrity sighting here: I saw Anthony Ryan from Project Runway at the restaurant. Nowhere is all that cheap so I wasn’t shocked by any prices. I wasn’t clamoring to return, but I wouldn’t be against it either.

So after going up into the Eiffel Tower and freezing our butts off, my brother and I were desperate for something HOT! We saw this place and decided to try it. We ordered some hot tea. We enjoyed the tea because were practically human popsicles but then we got the bill. 4.50 Euros that’s $ 5.85 U.S. OMG for a tea bag in a small cup. I ate a Steak Frites. Smallish steak but not horrible. My brother ordered an omelet with fries. The best part was the Crème Caramel and Lemon Tart for dessert. Nice server. Yup, tourist trap but hot food when we needed it, glad we stopped in but probably won’t do that again.

This restaurant was across the street from the hotel we were staying at so it was a staple go-to place to grab a sandwich or a Café Americano. Mind you, nothing came cheap. The first time we went in we ordered a ham & cheese toast with frites and two coffees, and it set us back about 40 euros! No joke… Went back for a dinner of spaghetti bolognese, bber, ice cream, and espresso… well over a 150 euros for that. Despite the high costs(what do expect when the Eiffel Tower is literally the next block over), the service is very good(no snooty waiter service here) and the ambiance is like that of most of the Parisian bistros we frequented — all set up alfresco style and facing the streets of Paris for proper people watching and smoking! Ahhh… miss Paris.
