Le Chêné des Hindrés is a very famous and magical tree located in the enchanted domain of Merlin! Some believe that the fairies of Brocéliande used their magic wands to give this tree its longevity so it could whisper the old legends. It is a sessile oak(Quercus Petraea) and one of the oldest oak trees in the Forêt de Paimpont-Brocéliande. It is 23 meters high and has a circumference of 5.07 m at 1.30 m above ground level. It’s a bit difficult to find and the signs are not so clear. There is some parking located nearby which is also a bit difficult to notice. We tried using the signs and finally were totally surprised to see it listed on Google Maps. It’s not exactly the location of the text on Google Maps and it’s a bit more to the right(see my photo for exact location where I took a screen shot). It was a bit of a hike to get here so be ready to walk through tall grasses in the forest if you get a bit lost like us. This was a really fun adventure though and highly recommended! You can also see Merlin’s Tomb and the Fontaine de Jouvence if you are in the area.
