This small place is run by a very friendly owner with a mildly off-putting and slightly uncomfortable sense of humor. He speaks English well, but in spite of that, he did change one of our orders(which may have been on purpose). However, the quality of the food easily made up for this small error! Everything tasted like it was home-made and was super flavorful; especially the dessert(saffron honey ice cream). The house wine was definitely not the star of the show, but the bill was; Alounak is very affordable for Nice. Go here as a group(more than 3 people) to change the owner from borderline creepy to very entertaining and you’ll have a great time!

Stopped here on my European backpacking trip. Really liked the couscous and definitely try the ice cream with authentic saffron, honey, and cream.

Also stopped by here on a backpacking trip through Nice. In my Europe travels thus far, I found no vegetarian/vegan supportive restaurants prior to this. It’s got a Middle Eastern cuisine with primarily vegetarian(but some meat) options. You can get a French or English-translated menu. The owner is extremely amiable and helpful! The couscous is quite heavy, but the dolman was fantastic. Also, you MUST try the saffron-honey ice cream, perhaps the best thing I’ve eaten throughout my entire trip.

As a meat enthusiast, I was disappointed when I was dragged out to this restaurant by my vegetarian friend. That disappointment quickly left when I tasted their food. It tasted amazing. The saffron and honey ice cream was the best thing I’ve had in France so far. I will make a second trip backup the restaurant before I leave Nice just for that ice cream. It’s seriously that good. The owner is a very kind man. One of the people I was with kept coughing so he brought her a pinch of saffron to help. I would recommend this place to any traveler who is open to trying new foods.

Delicious food for both vegetarians and meat eaters. The owner is vegetarian himself and does all the cooking, cleaning, and waiting on tables. Very amazing. The vegetarian food is kept completely separate from the meat so there’s no need to worry. Also, really great coffee!

Tasty food :) only reason for a 4⁄5 was that there were only 4 prawns in a tagine dish with prawns in it … And the serves could have been bigger :) but really tasty and owner was very nice

We’ve been in France for 10 days and this has been the best meal of our entire honeymoon! Food was delicious and authentic and service with speed! We will never forget this incredible meal! I’m vegetarian and my husband is a meat eater and they had a lot of options for both of us. Finding vegetarian food in Nice is difficult but finding good vegetarian food is even harder. You must go here and try the homemade ice cream with saffron and honey as well as the orange blossom and honey tea! You’ll thank me later!

If you are VEGAN or VEGETARIAN then go here!!! As a frequent traveler and vegan. I spent a considerable about of time trying out places around Nice! Alounak is VERY vegan friendly! Not only that, it is down right tasty cuisine! Do yourself a favor and get the«white coffee.» It’s not really coffee but hot water, orange blossom, and honey! Lastly, the service was outstanding! :) Just go there already!

Giving this restaurant 4 stars for the food and an extra star for the wonderful service! For college students, or anyone for that matter, who is traveling on a budget this place is a great find. Entrée prices range from € 9 — € 15 along with there being options of selected pre-set multi course menus ranging from € 13 — € 25 depending on how many courses you want– really great value for money. Our group ordered veggie couscous, ratatouille, veggie tagine, and caviar d’aubergine — we were all gushing about how wonderful each dish was as soon as we took our first bites! This is also a great place for vegetarians/vegans as there are good number of really great options on the menu — we had a vegan with us who was very grateful to find a place with more than one option on the menu. The man who served us was simply delightful, he spoke English really well and overall just made the whole experience wonderful. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling to Nice!
