The cutest little shop I’ve ever been to. The macaroons are FAN-TAST-IC! They come in a variety of flavors but every single one is delicious. Trust me I had one of each and two or more of many of them. Hey I was on vacation so I indulged a little… Well a lot! The fruit flavors were the best tasting to me. They were so fresh and the filling was what instantly set them apart from others I’ve had. I’m big on texture and this nailed it! I made a point to stop by right before my flight back home and bring some back but they were crumbled and broken by the time I landed so I recommend getting you fill while you can. Luckily I also bought a few jars of jelly and jam to give to some family and those travelled well back home. They were also incredibly delicious! I can’t say delicious enough for everything about laduree. They also sell a variety of nuts both plain of covered/dipped in sauces which I imagine travel well also. The shop was so beautiful that I could design my house just like it. Walking into the shop just made me happy. The prices are the more expensive end of the other macaroon shops near by but the freshness and flavor of them is worth every euro. They have many locations around France and even a few locations in the states. Unfortunately none close to me but my next trip to Europe already has laduree penciled in.

I usually don’t have much of a sweet tooth, and am typically not a huge fan off macarons, but my brother was absolutely raving about Lardurée like a crazed fanatic after he returned from a trip to Paris. He loved it so much that he brought some home for all of us to enjoy. Needless to say, I still didn’t understand the macaron craze. That is, until now. The Lardurée in Cannes is conveniently situated on Rue d’Antibes which is at the heart of the city in the French Riviera. The store was clean, well-decorated, and had a friendly, helpful staff who were all fluent in English. They helped us choose our selection of macarons: Framboise(raspberry), Café(coffee), Citron Vert Basilic(Lime Basil), Fruits Rouges(Red Fruits), Chocolat Pure Orgine Peru(pure origin chocolate from Peru), Marie-Antoinette(named after the former Queen of France), Caramel Fleur de Sel(salted caramel), and L’Incroyable Guimauve Fraise Bonbon(strawberry candy«Guimauve»). Our favorites? Café, L’Incroyable Guimauve Fraise Bonbon, and Caramel Fleur de Sel. Apparently, the Lardurée macaron was inspired by Pierre Desfontaines, who first thought of taking two macaron shells and joined them with a delicious ganache filling. And for that Monsieur Desfontaines, we all thank and praise you.

I was lucky enough to wander into this location when nobody else was in it– an empty Laduree? Unheard of! The Laduree in NYC has always had a line out the door every time I’ve been there so having the Cannes store to myself to luxuriously stroll around and ask questions of the attentive staff was dreamy. The staff was friendly, cheerful and extremely helpful. Of all the delightful treats I tried that day, I especially loved their macaron ice cream in salted caramel– absolutely delicious! Cracking into the macaron shell with ice cream underneath was super fun too :)
