One of the top wine bars if not the best one in helsinki. They have a very impressive list of wines by the glass and prices are also reasonable. I was impressed on my last visit when they for example had 5 different sparkling wines(2 champagnes, 1 prosecoo, 1 cava and 1 cremant) by the glass, prices ranging from € 7 to € 14. Most of the wines are ecological and while they are not fanatical about it they strive to have mostly ecological but most importantly good wines. The staff are very knowledgeable and very happy to chat about the wines. They also serve some cheese and charcuteries to go with the wine. The space is a bit weird as they share it with a hair salon but it is an efficient use of the space. It does however work best when it is a bit dark as it otherwise is very visible that the furniture is a bit worn. Still a nice place f glass of wine or more.

Vin vin is The place to go for wine later in the evening. It is smack in the center just off the main street Mannerheimintie. The bar is owned by a Finnish importer of wines, Viinitie, and serve out their own selection. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and many of the wines served are from small estates produced bio-dynamically. Prices there are extremely reasonable with 7 € for the house bubbly and 11 € for the house Champagne(which was a vintage Pierre Gimonet by the way last I visited). Recently the same owner opened another bar caller BierBier in Kaartinkaupunki. Guess what they focus on there.

Great casual comfy retro ambience, but if I’m going to pay 15euro for a glass of wine, it would be nice if the pour didn’t look like a taster. No wonder the place was half empty when everyplace else was packed.

The small bar in the corner of Kalevankatu and Yrjönkatu is well known for its excellent wine selection. At Vin-Vin you will most of all find organic wines from small producers. For that reason you can be sure to find get some wines here you most probably won’t find at Alko. Ask the bar tender for a recommendation. There will surely be something to suit your taste. Vin-Vin of course also has other drinks than wine but for anything else. Wine is their specialty though and for anything else you will probably find something more suitable elsewhere in town. Especially if you consider coming here during the weekend try to be early. The place doesn’t have too many seats and it get’s crowded here pretty fast. I managed to get in only after the fourth try.
