We stumbled upon this place completely by accident and have been regular visitors ever since. An old fisherman’s cottage by the sea has been transformed into a thriving little café that helps youth get that all important work experience. It’s not just the fresh coffee, hot tea and oven-fresh korvapuusti(Finnish cinnamon scrolls) that keep us coming back, although these are perfectly good reasons to drop in! The staff here are all trainees from the city’s youth program, and so get exposure to both catering operations and customer service. Everything here is prepared by the employees for sale in the café. The location is peaceful, hidden away in the forest close to the Pikku Kallahti and across the road from Kallahti beach. The summer terrace is shaded, popular with cyclists, dog walkers and pram-pushing parents alike. Come winter time, squeeze into one of the big communal tables in the back room and thaw out over a variety of reading materials. + Never too crowded. — Sometimes the staff are not so friendly, give them a chance though.
