Ursula

Un café sur la baie d’Helsinki et ses îles. Grand choix de boissons à des prix corrects. Le smoothie est délicieux. Le spectacle est à proximité car il y a un spot de saut à l’élastique à 150 mètres.

Ursula is a few minutes from my home, serves sparkling wine, and has a terrace. Plus it’s just on the sea shore, boasts outstanding views, and the scene is great — with all kinds of people from parents and families to proper Mission District hipster types to grannies, tourists, and people you can tell have more money than I do (which is to say: a lot of people in my neighborhood). That being said, it’s a civilized place where I can drink champagne with a stroller and not feel trashy.
The staff is great. On a recent visit when my sparkling wine either came out to the table not sparkly or lost it’s bubbles while I wrangled an infant for a few minutes, they graciously replaced a half-​empty glass of flat champagne with a new full glass full of bubbles. No questions asked. They have blankets/​wraps if the air gets a bit nippy and beautiful views to boot.
Among a group of terraces on this strip of sea-​front real estate Ursula stands out for their service and ambience. I would give them more than 5 stars if I could.

The weather was warm, everyone was out walking along the harbour. Then came this gem, absolutely stunning views right on the water! The coffee was delicious, the service was with a smile and the treat, a yummy jam doughnut was well worth it!
We had to visit again the next day :)

I have to say that this place makes me sad. The location is fabulous and the terrace is nice, but everything else is far from good. The place has no soul and both food and drinks are poor. When you add high prices to the equation you end up with a place that has great potential but fails miserably.
The location attracts people there, but I sure hope that whoever runs it would at least try to make an effort.

…but the setup kind of sucks: I felt like I was back in school ordering food or drinks at a canteen. There’s so much potential here, the location is so perfect to create a really stunning café/​bar/​restaurant, but it’s probably run by a money-​sucking company who relies on the location and the fact that people will sit down and buy stuff, just because of the views!
Well, at least that is what I did… but let me tell you, I ain’t doing doing that again!

Das Café Ursula liegt direkt am Meer, das war’s dann aber auch schon. Die Einrichtung ist mehr als schlicht, die Warteschlangen (Selbstbedienung!) können im Sommer sehr lang werden und die Speisen und Getränke sind allenfalls Mittelmaß.

Während unseres Helsinki-​Trips haben wir uns zu einem Besuch «hinreissen» lassen.
Die Lage des Cafes lässt wirklich Urlaubsfeeling aufkommen.
Leider muss man dies auch entsprechend bezahlen.

Das Café Ursula liegt am Ufer von Helsinkis Kaivopuisto Park — es ist täglich von 9 bis 19 Uhr geöffnet. Von dem grünen Parkhügel des Brunnenparks kann man z.B. die Festung Suomenlinna sehen. Zum Café-​Grundstück gehört eine geräumige freie Terrasse. Direkte Aussicht meerwärts. Die Einrichtung des Cafés sieht ganz gewohnheitsmässig aus, viel Raum, aber Warteschlangen können lang sein.

On a beautiful day great place to have cup of coffee or pint of lager. Great view to the sea. Being a some sort of classic café in Helsinki, there is always lot of people — especially on warm summerdays.

Always full of people. That should be because of its wonderful location. Other than its location, the café itself is just very average. Nothing special, and a bit dusty because of the amount of people. They dont seem to have enough people to keep the place tidy. Self service.
I pop in quite often, as its just on my way when ever I go for a walk. So if you also happen to be on a walk, this is one option where to get a cup of tea. Nearby is also few other cafes that I think are a lot nicer.

Ein absolutes Must-​See in Helsinki. Das Café Ursula konzentriert das sommerliche Flair Helsinkis auf einen sehr schönen Punkt. Hier mit einem Glas Cider sitzen und auf die kleinen Inseln, das Meer und die Schiffe hinaussehen ist einfach schön.
