Inexpensive as compared to the other salons in the area. I had taken an appointment for a haircut with the student stylists who looked totally professional. They not only gave me the best haircut of my life but were also very patient with the kind of messy hair I had. It’s not that I came out of the salon looking like a million buck, but the haircut was definitely nice. I ended up paying 24 euros for a smart haircut remodel including a hair wash, but it was the cheapest I could find in central Helsinki. If you want to go for the professional hairdresser then of course you will have to shell out some heavy amount. But in my opinion the students are as good as the professional ones. And nothing makes a first-time customer happier than a gift hamper. They said it was a promotional offer, but I simply loved the shampoo and the hair spray they gifted me. I am yet to review the shampoo and the hairspray, but I am already a fan. Definitely going back for a trimming and some intensive treatment.

The cost of living here is outrageous. The cost of being pretty is a travesty. I could just cry when I see the € 60 price tag on a gel manicure(vs $ 25 in SF). Hair maintenance is enough to give you a heart attack. But Unika. Aaaah, Unika! I got the best touch-up I’ve ever had(NOTKIDDING), the best scalp massage I’ve ever had, and the nicest most personable service I’ve ever had from Maya. She is the very best! I went in with a color blend issue from my last root job and she found a way, without bleach or a dryer, to make me all one color again. All for around € 30. I almost had the good kind of heart attack and I would have hugged her but restrained myself. Unika is very nice inside, everyone who works there is incredibly helpful and nice, and they have tons of products. Being pregnant and bloated, I went in feeling like Grendel and left feeling like a whole new person. I will be back until Maya is not there anymore. And then I will go wherever she does. Thank you, Unika.
