August Strindberg was a guy sort of known for changing his stripes throughout his life, but Strindberg doesn’t change at all — It’s the luxury coffee shop for Helsinki. They do a lot more than just coffee but it’s a place that you’d expect in a film for a pivotal conversation. It’s expensive, sort of pretentious, and full of people you’d probably never just get in a chat with. The trick is that if I was going to be doing a Kubrick film in Helsinki, I’d give this location for a part of it.

This is one of the old traditional cafes in Helsinki. Even though it just recently moved a little down the street it hasn’t lost any of its charm. Big windows allow a perfect view over Esplanadi while inside the café combines modern simplicity with classic elegance. Sit down in one of the armchairs or sofas with a glass of hot drink and maybe a piece of their fabulous cakes and enjoy the city atmosphere.

Attention tourists! This place is a very good choice for a enjoyable coffee break. This awesomely elegant café is one of a kind. Strindberg has got that old fashion charm that most of the cafeterias in Helsinki don’t have. The best thing is, that you can follow the life of Esplanadi from the window tables, enjoy city athmosphere in the terrace or listen the gossips of the regular clients(most of them house wives that have just been shopping all day or been at the hairdressers, since they don’t have to work like we normal people). I just went to Strindberg with a friend today, and enjoyed a delicious Toast Skagen, delightful Bebe pastry and had so many cups of coffee. When you order a filter coffee, the refill is free, even if you ask for refill for five times. The service is awesome, athmosphere, well, priceless(literally pricy, since our total cost was 20 € each). Go there, and just enjoy!
