It looks closed from the outside, no lights no nothing, just open the door and step in and you are in a dark little black and white haven with a bartender who loves to use chartreuse, both yellow and green. I had a last word and Pablo had something with yellow chartreuse. His had a playing card a top. 30 euros for two cocktails, blimey but we are on hols so no matter. No food here, and the rap music not my bag but worth stopping by for one cocktail.

They got this unassuming place right. Lovely well made cocktails served in room with a very cool atmosphere and a civilized crowd. Quiet Thursday about Midnight and easy to find a comfortable seat, peruse the menu and got a Fanny Hill. Very well made original. Top ingredients. Top attention to details. Music was a tasty mix of mostly 90’s hip hop played at conversation volume.

You get the best drinks in town from Liberty or Death. The place is tiny and usually packed but if you are not in a hurry, I highly recommend to stop by and wait ’till you get a table. My all time favourite is their Cucumber Sour.

Great personal service. Just ask the bartenders to make something they think you’ll like. Worked for me at least. Drinks served from jam jars and other quirky glasses.

We went there on a trip to Helsinki. The first night we tried to go there we found a queue outside the door — for a cocktail bar! But the second night we came back earlier, and we understood why there had been a queue. The place is super cozy and has a sort of secretive vibe. Drinks are all 12EUR, which I think is totally fair, especially given how great they were! We had two drinks each, and one of mine was with gin, cucumber, mint and egg whites, and it was an absolute highlight. Since we got there early, the place was relatively empty, and one of the bartenders sat down with us and talked about drinks, bartending and Helsinki — he even gave us a tip for another bar we should try. Next time I’m in Helsinki, I’ll definitely swing by there again!

This was hands-down one of our favorite spots in Helsinki when my fiancé and I were in town. We loved the drinks and all the attention that goes into every glass. The details in the décor and menu are incredible as well.

A drinking gem in Helsinki, Liberty or Death is worth a visit! The drinks here are artful and sophisticated. I would complain about the price, but every time I’ve visited this place I have been satisfied and all the drinks are the same price so frugal folks can choose according to taste rather than price… Each drink packs a subtle punch… intoxicating, while simultaneously appealing to all your senses. The flavors are outstanding and I could taste they originate from fresh ingredients which I could see for myself when I approached the bar. I tend to drink quickly, but this is the first place where the drinks have been so good they’ve actually forced me to slow down and savor every sip!

Liberty or Death is definitely one of my favorite drink bars in Helsinki. I love that their drinks are not only delicious and constantly changing, but they also have great stories attached to them as well. The décor is very chic and the atmosphere is to die for. The place is not very big, but who cares — it’s intimate ;) They also have Maker’s Mark bourbon on tab(!!!), which is like one of the three that exists in the whole world.
