Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center

We stayed four nights in this relatively new hotel — an entire wing is still under construction, slated to fully open in October this year. We upgraded from a standard room and were placed in the new wing. The room was superb, décor, beds (2 twin, a surprise, since we’re American and not that old) and a very interesting bathroom. You get welcome Anthon Berg truffles (yummy!) and a welcome drink in the bar, water and upgraded use of facilities in the hotel, as well as breakfast in the Executive Suite (served in part, rather than the buffet). Couldn’t open the window, the noise from the trains close-​by was deafening even on the 7^th floor. I found the bathroom sink area to be a bit counterintuitive, with the mirror behind the sink, all encased in clear glass. A little privacy, please! In any case, the thermostat was stuck on «frigid» and they upgraded us for free to a Harlequin-​themed Junior Suite in the older (2010) wing of the hotel. Nice little sitting area, ceiling to floor French doors/​windows, much quieter, a double bed and a separate, more traditional bathroom. The furnishings were a bit shopworn for a hotel that’s barely 5 years old, the wall paint scratched and not fixed and the carpeting coming unglued in spots. We liked it though, it was very comfortable. Then the WiFI went out on the entire floor and we could only get a good signal in the breakfast area, lobby and other public areas. Not the end of the world, but a tad annoying. The hotel management did the right thing and offered us each a free drink every night, very thoughtful, also quite easy on their pocket. The hotel is in Vesterbro, about a 10-​minute walk from the Railroad Station and from Tivoli Gardens, which is across the street from the station. It’s a short walk from pretty much anything in downtown Copenhagen too, so well located. A taxi to the airport was under 250 Danish Kronor. Breakfast was excellent, the organic cheeses and fresh breads delicious, the French Press coffee strong and good. All in all a very good value, but be advised that the pool is in the basement. The new wing will have a roof-​top pool. Be advised that there is an added fee to credit card us in teh hotel, although this is clearly posted at the Reception. Excellent concierge!

Wir haben zu dritt ein Zimmer von Freitag bis Sonntag im Tivoli bezogen. Wer schon mal in Kopenhagen war, der weiß, dass die Preise echt gesalzen sind. Unser Hotel hatte aber einen echten top Preis und somit waren wir vorab schon mal recht zufrieden.
Das Hotel ist fußläufig zum Hauptbahnhof gelegen. Man kann mit einem kleinen Trolley gut dorthin marschieren, manch einer würde die Strecke aber vielleicht doch eher via Taxi Kurzstrecke zurücklegen, denn der Weg an sich ist jetzt nicht sooo toll und auch mit einem kleinen Gepäckstück u.U. ein wenig unkomfortabel.
Das Hotel selbst fühlte sich für mich irgendwie ziemlich «amerikanisch» an: Ales in Englisch ausgeschrieben, man wurde grundsätzlich auch direkt in Englisch angesprochen, also sehr angenehm für uns.
Das Zimmer war, aufgrund der Tatsache, dass wir nun noch ein Zustellbett drin hatten, natürlich nicht mehr ganz so geräumig. Aber ganz ehrlich? Es war völlig ok und ging!
WICHTIG: Es war SAUBER!
Genügend Bügel und Aufhängungsmöglichkeiten waren auch vorhanden — für Frauen ein unbedingtes Muss — und Föhn und Kleinkram wie Duschzeugs etc. war ebenfalls vorhanden. Inkl. Kühlschrank und Minibar.
Lustig war die Sache mit dem Frühstück:
Das Frühstück selbst war wirklich BOMBE! Ein riesen Buffet, so dass man nie irgendwo anstehen musste. Super tolles Brot in sämtlichen Varianten, viel frisches Obst, Joghurts, Müslisorten, große Käseauswahl, ein riesiger frischer Lachs, Eier, Bacon, Konfitüren, dänische süße Teilchen — wirklich ALLES, was das Herz begehrt.
Also hierfür wirklich ein ganz großes Lob und ich war echt total begeistert.
Der FrühstücksRAUM hingegen war eher gewöhnungsbedürftig:
Es handelt sich dabei eben um einen riesengroßen Kongressraum mit entsprechender (unbequemer!) Bestuhlung und Akustik Da das Hotel auch sehr gut besucht war, war es immer relativ voll und dementsprechend laut. Sehr viele Familien mit Kindern, und schlussendlich war klar, dass hier irgendwann auch das Reinigungspersonal mit dem Wischen und Aufräumen kaum nicht mehr hinterher kommen könnte.
Aber ganz ehrlich? Schlimm war das NICHT! Wie gesagt, das Frühstück an sich hat total entschädigt, alle waren nett und freundlich untereinander und somit hatten wir einen guten Start in den Tag.
Auch das Design und die Ausstattung haben mir sehr gut gefallen. Die Aufzüge laden zu schrägen Selfies ein und die Tivoli Bar ist wirklich wunderhübsch.
Sollte ich wieder einmal nach Kopenhagen fliegen — was ich lieber heute als morgen täte — würde ich sofort wieder im Tivoli absteigen!

We wanted to finish our Copenhagen trip off in style, and booked three nights at the new Tivoli hotel to facilitate that wish. The hotel is less than five years old, and is located near the waterfront. The first impression upon arriving at the hotel was ‘if it’s that new, why does it look so old?’ Chalking it up to a stylistic choice made to fit the amusement park’s own age, we went inside and was greeted by a friendly receptionist checking us in. Our floor was where the design really started to take us by surprise. The doors were lacquered easily leading our minds to a sleazy red light district 70s movie theater. The carpet looked like Harlequin thew up after a cocaine binge that would have made Charlie Sheen salivate. Bow chica wow wow played in our heads.
The room was, well let’s say compact and leave it at that. We had booked for two adults and a kid, but the extra bed wasn’t opened when we arrived. Apart from being compact, the room sported the same «interesting» design as the hall ways. Dark colors and heavy design that most of all made us feel like we had checked into a nice weekend stay in cold war Russia. The bed was comfortable though. And even if I doubt the air cooling system would stand a hot summer (even by Danish standards) it kept the room mostly cool. Under the bed a little sign unabashedly boasted that yes, they do indeed clean under the bed. Well whoop de doo. Like I tell my six year old, when he proudly states that he once again managed to not pick his nose and eat it: we don’t throw parades for things we should or shouldn’t be doing anyway. The sign boasting cleanliness under my bed seemed all the more hilariously insignificant when other surfaces were visibly dusty. Oh well. The bathroom was a story in and of itself. Like anybody with kids will know, having a lock on your bathroom door can literally save lives when the third hour of Pokemon talk threatens your sanity. This hotel chose to go without locks on bathroom doors. Not content to leave it at that, they took it one step further: they made the bathroom doors slightly see through stained glass. Granted, people usually stay in hotel rooms with somebody they know well — especially if its a double bed. But see through? The shower was pleasant however.
One night we decided to go to dinner. We went at eight, hoping we could grab a fast dinner before the kid went from cute sleepy to overtired crying because his ice cubes were melting too fast. This was a mistake. No reservation meant we could either wait thirty minutes for a table in the brasserie, or go immediately to the tapas restaurant do not pass go do not collect $ 200. We opted for the tapas because, we naively reasoned, we’d get to eat immediately and have the kid off to bed in time for smiles and happy memories for everybody. The tapas place was separated from the bar and the brasserie by a flimsy piece of fabric. That and the heavy design of the furniture brought my mind back to cold war Russia in what I imagine a dive bar /​tea house might look like there. Furthermore the one wall we sat next to was just uncovered drywall, complete with pencil marks and serial numbers. The service was friendly but slow. We ordered a children’s pizza for the kid, that came after we’d finished our tapas.
Besides sharing the name, there is no real affiliation between the Tivoli the park and this. I don’t understand thatOther hotels sell Tivoli tickets at a reduced price. This didn’t. Confused, we went to the Radisson across the street from Tivoli, where the nice concierge helped us out.
Taxi time. We went to the lobby and spoke to the concierge, who said he’d get us a taxi in about five minutes. I gave him our room number, and he said we should wait in the couches just inside. Cool. Five minutes passed. Another five minutes passed, as a massive group of people moved outside the hotel waiting for cabs. I asked the concierge, if we should remain inside or just go outside instead? He didn’t understand what I meant. I told him we had ordered a cab. He asked me how long I had waited. 10 minutes. He didn’t know my room number, and it was pretty clear that he either hadn’t ordered the cab or that the cab had left with somebody else and he hadn’t been on top of his game.
Overall, the hotel is a massive disappointment and had we not booked through an agent and apparently not been eligible for a refund, we would have gotten the hell out of this place post haste. The rooms are functional if not terribly comfortable. The pool of the hotel is the only redeeming feature. Mostly because it exists, something that is sadly uncommon in Copenhagen still. The pool has panorama windows to the gym and a playroom that, again, has panorama windows facing the entrance from the garage. So when you’re in the pool, you’re on display to a constant stream of people walking to and from the lobby. Not a big deal, but it still feels kind of peculiar.

War leider nicht so wie erwartet. Das Hotel wird gerade erweitert, die ca. 400 Zimmer reichen wohl nicht mehr aus. Aus Sicht eines in Euro zahlenden Touristen war sowohl der Hotelaufenthalt übers Wochenende mit Familie wie auch sonst alles in Kopenhagen sehr teuer.
Für fast 300 € war das Zimmer kaum größer als auf einem Kreuzfahrtschiff. Das ausklappbare Beistellbett war hart und unbequem. Das Fruehstuecksbuffet fand ob der hohen Auslastung bzw. der Bauarbeiten in dem großen Konferenzraum statt. Die Qualitaet und die Auswahl war gut, doch die große Halle war einfach zu laut und unruhig, um ein Fruehstueck zu genießen.
Der Weg in die Stadt war dann doch 20 Minuten zu Fuß, das hatten wir unterschätzt.

Tivoli is a nice hotel because it’s new and clean unlike many of the older hotels in CPH. It’s a little far from the center of town but the walk isn’t bad. It’s about a 15 – 20 minute walk to the central train station. There are 2 restaurants here (Tivoli Brasserie and a sushi place). We went to the brasserie and it was fine, nothing special but it is convenient to have some eateries onsite.
The only downside to this place is the customer service/​housekeeping. We were unable to check in a little early and our room was never cleaned during our entire stay. I called the front desk to ask them if someone could come up to clean the room since we ran out of numerous toiletries. An hour later, still no maid– I went down to the concierge to ask if someone could clean the room. They informed me that they could not get a hold of housekeeping and that we were first on the list. I went back to my room, stunned, because I’ve never heard such a response. About 30 minutes later, someone came up, dropped off toiletries and left. There was no cleaning of any sort. This is unacceptable because the room was expensive and during our 2 night stay, it was never cleaned.
Hotel is nice and in a safe neighborhood but hopefully you’ll have a better housekeeping experience.

Summary: Small and watch out for the weirdly decorated room. A bit out of the way, but generally prices correctly for what it is in Copenhagen. Probably should get 3.5 stars, but in this case, the overall rating is too high, so rounding down.
My stay at Tivoli was back in May 2014, so I am definitely late in posting my thoughts. still, I think this is the most recent review.
Atmosphere: It’s more of a conference place. If you’re a business traveler and want to do a seminar this is a fantastic option.
Amenities: The pool and fitness are nice for a city where space is a bit of a premium.
Location: Terrible. These folks that are saying it’s a 10 minutes walk from the train station must be referring to the Dybbelsboro station. I believe that. But it is closer to 15 min walk from Central Station (Kobenshaven H) unless you somehow walk faster than a Manhattanite who’s hobby is traveling around the world running endurance races. The buses aren’t bad in CPH, but if you are trying to take train regularly while you’re here, the walk to Dybbelsboro is painful. This is a rainy windy city. That walk is completely without any cover, close to the water, but uphill and with a view of other large hotels and the train tracks. UGLY.
Restaurants: Rooftop Sticks n’ Sushi is really a great chain in Denmark and I would stick to this restaurant. The downstairs restaurant is ok. Service is very attentive and thoughtful. It’s just food average. Breakfast supplement is nice if it comes with.
Service: Very kind and prompt in all parts of the hotel.
The Rooms: Small. I’ve been to a few different hotels in Copenhagen, so I knew what I was getting into, but COME ON! I got the Family Triple room, which is the third level of room. Expedia now posts the size. That room is 231 sq feet. If you’re an American use to some kind of space, I wouldn’t book a room smaller than this. Oh, and the clown room that another person references in their review, that’s the Family Triple. Clowns scare me, so I traded for a different room.
The bathroom did have a normal tub by request. There’s a little sitting couch. It was a clean room, though it did have a smell when I originally entered, that went away with some minor airing.
For families, I could see them loving this place. There are some little external seating areas just outside clusters of rooms. For single people or the NYC, London set, this may not be your spot.

Oh Tivoli Hotel!
First off yes location is not central but about 10 minute walk from the central station, and 20 minutes to sights. A 11A bus will stop right in front of the hotel, comes every 5 – 10 minutes and will also take you to major sights.
When we checked in, they told us they had room for a free upgrade, yay! I was surprised because it was a weekend I thought it would be busy, but ok we will take it. Originally we booked a standard room with breakfast for 2 nights, defiantly get the breakfast worth it! Copenhagen is not a cheap city, hotels are pricey along with everything else. So an upgrade was a nice surprise. We were put on the 6^th floor. When we opened the room door, we couldn’t help but LOL! It was a «theme room» more like a kids theme room. Décor was circus, balloons and clowns. Yup, we thought this is an upgrade, what does the standard room look like? After the laughs and taking pictures of the room. We realized it was roomy and clean and thats all that matters. If you don’t mind having a clown on your headboard. They also had great amenities, pool, gym, kids play area, bike rentals, and awesome breakfast. Breakfast was fantastic full buffet great way to start your day.
The hotel is very modern and funky in its décor. Don’t forget to check out the restaurant on the top floor the have cool swings and a glass floor, very fun! And a Cool patio. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. We rented bikes for the day very convenient, just talk to the front desk, about $ 30 Canadian for the day, a great way to see the city. After we checked out we still had time before catching our flight we had the option of leaving our bags at the front desk until we needed to go to the airport. Over all a great stay.

There is a lot of good, so I will start there. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. I think it was about ½ a mile from the main train station. It was an easy walk after taking the train in from the airport. The other option was to take the 11A bus from the train station to the hotel. While I was there, the bus route changed temporarily without notice. There was also a nice pool with good hours. I almost forgot to mention the water cooler in the lobby. All restaurants seem to charge for even tap water, so this was nice.
Now for the more critical part of my review. Although the room was clean and comfortable, it was very small. You may think you know what small is, but the place is even smaller. You have to leave a key in a slot to get electricity. That made it very easy to forget your key and lock yourself out. The bathroom door was made of glass. That might look cool, but some people would like more privacy. At night, I typically like to leave a small light on in the bathroom. Here there was no small light, so the glass door made the room light up. There is breakfast at the hotel. It is excellent, but very expensive at $ 30+ per person. All my meals seemed expensive in Copenhagen, so many people might not find this that bad.
Don’t miss the swings at the bar on the roof or the glass on the floor.

Recht neues Hotel. Zimmergröße ok. Gegend nicht besonders toll. Zu Fuß zum Tivoli 10 min. In der Sky Bar auf der 12 Etage sehr gutes Sushi. Personal sehr freundlich Zimmer zur Straße morgens recht laut. Frühstücksbüffet sehr gut.
