Food pretty good, bad service. Inexperienced and bad waiters. Did not know anything about the wine and food. Contradicted themselves multiple times. Seemed like b line serving staff who didn’t know their ass from their face.

Try the 7 smaller plates menu, every combination is a flavor explosion, and don’t hesitate to order de steak tartare, one of my favorites I’ve ever tried

Man, what a disappointment. Came in just for some wine, and wish we had gone to any of the other nearby wine bars. Ordered a red and a white. The white was downright awful. The red was alright but for 85 kr I would expect much better. The food looked alright but we sat in front of the kitchen and watched the chef run his hand through his hair all evening as he touched everyone’s food. The one redeeming thing was the smoked nuts in a pot. Overall we enjoyed other places more in Copenhagen.

We had arrived from Los Angeles two hours earlier and this was the first place we staggered to for a drink and a bite to eat — we picked the right place! Fabulous food, really interesting wines, a great atmosphere, and excellent service. It’s a popular spot, even on a midweek evening, so reservations are a good idea — we’ll certainly be back(need to try that tartare and sample a few more of the wines!)

The food here is really good, and they do have a nice selection of wines, but the service is SSSLOOOOOOOOOWWWW. Honestly it was upsettingly slow. It took us about 25 minutes for anyone to come and take our order, and the waiter was rather unknowledgeable when it came to the menu. After my friends and I got our wine and waters, it took another 25 minutes for the first of our orders to be brought to our table, and all of us were served far after the other. I finally had to tell my friends to go ahead and eat, and lo and behold, they finished before I received my meal. To avoid another elongated wait for the bill and payment we decided to just go to the counter and pay. But again I say, the food was really good, so I’ll give this place credit for that.

I have tried it a couple of times and I have been disappointed both times. I think it is really overpriced the meat you get too much fat in it that you can’t it. I’ve heard a lot of good things but I have never been pleased with the restaurant I don’t think I will try again.

I was coming to Copenhagen as a birthday trip and for my birthday dinner we decided on Manfreds. Great choice!!! We took the 7 course tasting menu plus the tartare and ordered the accompanying natural wines. Good thing we arrived hungry! Manfreds is the sister restaurant of the Michelin star restaurant Relae across the street and carries with it a lot of the same philosophy — local, seasonal, organic vegetables and meats. The food in itself is a bit rustic, but the techniques are modern. The wine is also worth noting — Manfreds is Copenhagen’s first natural wine bar. Natural wine is different than organic wine because nothing has been added or taken away whereas other wines may be manipulated during the winemaking process(adding a certain yeast, etc.). The taste is very special and complemented the food well. The ambience and atmosphere is very cozy. And at only 35 euros for 7 courses — the quality/price value is incomparable!

I was recommended Manfreds by the wonderful bartender at Ruby. I’m a frequent single traveller, and as such tend to stick to bars and other single establishments even though I’m a foodie. However Manfreds is very accommodating if you are just eating by yourself. You can sit right by the kitchen or at the bar. The food is off the hook. The first dish was thinly sliced kohlrabi marinated in apple cider vinegar, with grated radish on top. Exquisitely simple, with a lot of flavor and very refreshing. I added the beef tartar which was melt in your mouth good. The poached egg was good but you can’t really go wrong with a soft poached egg. Then came two standout dishes for me, charred cabbage which was smoky, soft and with a cream sauce just adding a hint of tanginess. It was perfect. And then string beans and onions, sautéed to perfection with a light touch of salt and smokiness… again just perfect! Flavorful, refreshing and so tasty. Then came the lamb dish which was also great, tender, flavorful morsels of lamb exquisitely cooked. I stick to my own choice of wine and they had a good one for me, service was attentive and honestly I thought the price is very reasonable to what one would pay for a similar meal in America. I’ve been to loads of nice restaurants, Michellins included, this one I recommend highly if you are in Copenhagen looking for a new Danish gastronomic experience and if you have admiration for simplicity, vegetables and natural flavors. 5 star for me!

Ate here twice in a month while visiting Europe from USA. This small quaint restaurant was my favorite and best in Copenhagen. Dish of the Day each time was delicious along with a small salad. Has a great vibe and atmosphere. You can tell they take pride in their dishes. This is a must stop. The price is worth it.

Good here makes all dopamine in my brain do wild dance. It’s too good to put in words. Their meticulous preparation and perfect presentation lead to all colorful taste buds explosion on my palate. I love this restaurant. I love Nørrebropark. Copenhagen just became more wonderful. Plus the chef looks so cute :)

Ate here twice during my stay in Copenhagen. Unfortunate there was some inconsistency in the offering and service. Meal size was a little light the second time, and service not as good. Shame. Good ingredients, simple hearty cooking in the specials. Priced fairly for food, high for wine. Won’t be going back till I have eaten in other places around Copenhagen first.

I’ve been twice now, about a year apart. Both times the food has been nice, but really… Not up to the hype. The service was inconsistent. One girl was friendly and bubbly, the other one(who we had most of the time) was a bit surly. Don’t try and avoid ingredients you don’t like either, if you order the tasting menu. The response we were given if there was a lot of cheese on the menu was, are you allergic to it? No? You’re getting it. My bf hates cheese, we were told there were no dishes were you just get a slab of cheese, first course? A lot of creamy goats cheese with some veges. It was quite nice but we had basically been told that no you can’t know what’s on the menu and even if you tell us you hate something were going to serve it to you anyway. Smug. I would need to hear serious changes had occurred in their service before I went back. Its like it’s your privilege to dine there and they’re doing you a favour.

Bring an empty stomach if you want try the seven course sampling menu. The food was complex, ultra modern with snippets of molecular gastronomy. Fortunately, a knowledgable server presented and explained each tantalizing, nouveau dish. Every item was new to the palate and delicious, especially the pork belly. You satisfy your senses and get your fill at Manfreds & Vin.

We stumbled upon Manfreds on a Sunday evening after seeing that Relae was closed. We were able to get a table without reservations, though we were warned that our table was booked in an hour and a half. The atmosphere was casual, yet bustling and filled with happy chatter. We opted for small plates and the dish of the day. The beef tartare was excellent(I would come again just for this) though the onions infused elderflower was less fragrant than I had hoped. I got the vegetarian dish of the day which was made of celery, cous cous, crème fraîche, and almonds. My friends got the roasted pork which was served thinly sliced with cauliflower and quinoa. The wine list was a little disappointing and I wish our server had more insight on pairings. Overall, the food outdid the service at this restaurant.

I adore Manfreds. I’ve probably had some of my best food experiences in Copenhagen at this place, and never ever have I had a bad experience. I like the open kitchen, the possibility to see the chefs prepare your food, the respect for the ingredients. If I can, I usually choose the«chef’s choice», which is four different dishes that the chef decides on. If you are two eating, you’ll get served eight different dishes. I’ve never ever had a bad dish when choosing this option. If you want wine to your food, there are always lots of options, since it’s a wine bar in the same room. At least half of the times I want some take away in Copenhagen, I choose Manfreds. For around 90DKK they serve you a delicious meal, and it’s often enough food for a small meal with leftovers the next day. I can’t recommend Manfreds enough. If you just can eat at one place in Copenhagen, you should choose this restaurant!

I really wanted to like this meal. The restaurant had a really nice, relaxed atmosphere that was quasi-hipster. The staff were really friendly and the menu description was solid. One big problem was the food. While it was tasty, I thought it didn’t match my expectations. Some dishes were extremely inventive and delicious. Others fell far short and were lacking in inspiration. Our first course fell short — baked onion with crème fraîche and pickled rhubarb. The onions were lightly baked but not soft and required quite a bit of work to cut up what essentially amounted to a plate of 3 whole onions and four small pieces of pickled rhubarb. The best way to describe it was interesting, but not satisfying in the least. Our next course was really tasty however. It was a twist on pickles with brined cucumbers and arugula. Extremely tasty without all of the sour flavors introduced in pickling. Following that was a salt cured trout with micro greens in a buttermilk dressing. This was as good as any cured fish we’ve had and the micro greens offered a nice counter to the fleshy texture of the fish. Next came the best dish of the night. It was a soft poached egg with caramelized onion purée and charred salad greens with dried black olive crumbs on top. This was absolutely delicious and really showcased the talent housed in the kitchen at Manfreds. Served along with that was a plate of small boiled potatoes with a Danish cheese sauce tossed with ramps. This dish was fine but didn’t have any of the amazing qualities the egg dish it accompanied had. It was just potatoes and cheese. Following that we had grilled pork loin in a brown butter beer sauce with mint. This was a generous portion of pork and it was satisfying, it lacked a certain depth of flavor one would expect hearing that it was done with a brown butter beer sauce. Lastly, we finished off the meal with white asparagus in a pistachio vinaigrette with merrigold greens. While the merrigold greens were a nice and unusual touch — the white asparagus were merely boiled asparagus that one could eat at many different places. Nothing wrong, but also nothing extraordinary. All in all, this was an interesting voyage through dishes that were equally inventive and uninspired. I’m uncertain if I would return here again.

This review is for takeout only! Manfreds is so cute and cool, but it was a busy Saturday night with no space to sit. And we discovered that food to go is 45 dkk cheaper per dish, so that sealed the deal and we decided to get take out. The gentleman at the front was kind enough to translate the Danish menu into English for me(they have some stuff written on chalkboards since it’s forever changing). They told us 10 minutes(awesome!!) and it was hot and ready when we came back to pick it up. After a quick walk home, we quickly indulged and inhaled our meals. So. Good. For 180 dkk we got the vegetarian meal of the day, and also the meat one. The portions were very generous and we both could have had leftovers, were it not for our gluttony/the dog helping. The carrots were perfectly cooked. Not too soft, good amount of crunch. It was topped with amazing fresh goats cheese over some barley and greens. However or whatever they cooked that barley in was amazzzzzing. My friend enjoyed the beef dish. She said it was the most tender beef she’s ever eaten, after eating around the gelatinous stuffs. She found her parsnips to be a bit undercooked but I liked them. Also, her lentils(maybe?) were cooked in something rich and delicious as well. I definitely want to come back!

Overdue for a Manfreds update for a variety of reasons, most of which revolve around the fact that I have been there at least monthly since the last time I reviewed it only for brunch back in 2012, so feel well-equipped to add feedback about all foodthings(and coffeethings, and alcoholthings) on the menu. Warning: if you come to Manfreds any time after 12pm and fail to order the tartare, it will soon become one of your major life regrets. I don’t care if you’re a vegetarian or can’t handle red meat. Just DO it, okay? Also, Manfreds has unfortunately stopped with their weekend brunch hours. Trust me, this news has had a more tragic impact on my life than yours, but apparently you can still get their«eggs benedict» after 12pm on the weekends. Not quite the same, am pretty disappointed, but have fortunately acquired a couple backup brunch spots that do the trick in times of need(when you wake up starving and hungover and need to eat RIGHTNOW at 10am, for example). ANYWAY, like I said, I’ve been here at least once a month every month for the past year. Every time, apart from my beloved tartare which should remain unchanged for the rest of time, the menu is totally different. Every time I feel as though I have been reborn to new flavors and aromas that I hadn’t had before. Every time, I hate their espresso. Fortunately for Manfreds, Coffee Collective is down the street. Their espresso is, incidentally, also a pure blend from Coffee Collective, and 100% fair trade, and 100% organic(don’t you just feel like a proud tree-hugging dirty hippy knowing that?), but it’s bitter as hell, and I get this«unfiltered organic» thing(which is delightful in the wines they pair with their Chef Special) but bitter coffee is not my jam. Since I don’t need a coffee with my evening meal, and since there are more than adequate back up options on the same block in the event I should ever feel like one, Manfreds gets to keep all their stars. You’re welcome. :)

Heard good things about this restaurant. Was here mid day for a light brunch and got a seat inside the restaurant. Had to wait quite some time before getting to order, and that is in spite of me sitting just next to the reception area. I ordered the egg benedict and got to wait quite some time for that to arrive as well. When it did arrive I noticed that it was just the egg and some salad. I remembered reading on the menu that it should include rye bread as well and while waiting I had plenty of time to study the other people getting their dishes and there I noticed they also got rye bread with their benedicts. So they somehow forgot that on mine. Even though, the food tasted really good with plenty of flavour. Since it was quite hard getting service I decided to get up and wait by the cash register to pay. While I waited(tend to be doing a lot of waiting it seems) here I got to study the other benedicts getting rye bread as well. ;) So quite a negative experience for me this first time.
