Great! We really enjoy this spot — the pastries are delicious and the coffee is fantastic. They are also typically pretty large so you can sit and don’t feel rushed.

I’ve been hearing the good in Lagkagehuset as being the best bakery in town. Honestly, this is probably the only bakery place I would go to. I had their chocolate meringue balls, not a fond of them, sorry Danes. BUT I love their grilled sandwiches with prosciutto and cheese. It’s SOOOOOOGOOOOD! everyone should try it! I like it because the mustard sauce really brought the taste up and the butter smells really good. As I typing, it reminded myself that I have tried some of their pastries too, but I think they are average. So people, tell me where can I get good pastries?:) Other than that, I had their hot chocolate today. You know it isn’t powdered chocolate but chocolate chocolate. They use Belgium chocolate. I like it, except the fact that it is a bit sweet. The five stars are for the grilled sandwich, they are bomb:)!

Lagkagehuset translates to Birthday Cake House, and it’s actually a chain that covers most of inner Copenhagen. They have sandwiches, all types of bread, muffins, scones, cakes, and a million other pastries. Danes love to queue, so take a number at the front and watch for your number at the top. I think the chain is a little expensive for what it is, and if you’re at this particular location, I recommend you walk in the opposite direction(toward the metro) for about 8min until you hit these two covered plazas. They have artisanal breads and pastries for about the same price, but 2x the quality. That being said, I liked their rhubarb muffin and rhubarb pastry(it’s got a dollop of cream on top, but it’s filled with cream and the exterior is this beautifully flaky crust. The name was rhubarb-flaksgsjreioen…or something like that).
