Do you know the cool feeling you get from ordering at a nice hot dog place in the street? I don’t. Or, well, I didn’t. Not until I tried DØP, a fabulous food truck in the city centre. When you’re hungry and you are craving for something on-the-go but don’t want to spend a lot, DØP is the perfect solution. Their hot dogs and add-ons are all organic, and they also serve organic beverages! I tried their vegetarian option — they also have it vegan if you opt out the remoulade or the mayonnaise — and it was pretty good! Maybe the portion was a bit small, but for 35kr it’s OK. So I’d say this is the only negative point. A nice pro is that they accept credit cards. How cool is that? I mean, a Visa friendly truck food is always a good thing! Just try it out and you won’t regret it. I’ll come back here as soon as possible, every time I’ll feel like it.

DOP has a veggie dog, which is really exciting as I feel like most places don’t. I just took the standard dog with pickles, fried onions, and raw onions. It was good, but nothing amazing. I also tried some of the creamed kale which is really good(don’t let the way it looks turn you off, it actually tastes awesome!)

Great way to fill up as you stroll through the shopping streets of Copenhagen. Not extraordinarily messy, so you can eat and walk at the same time, or you can sit near the Round Tower and contemplate your ratio of pickles and sausage as you munch your way through. I got the classic, and particularly enjoyed the bun, which was a bit more substantial and crispy compared to American buns.

Excellent organic hot dogs for a reasonable price in central Copenhagen. The sausage is excellent as are the toppings and accompanying ingredients. I ordered the Pork with wild garlic along with parsnip and potato mash, beetroot, fried shallots, onions, grain mustard and ketchup. It was delicious and filling, however if I was really hungry I’m sure I could devour a second. The best thing is that unlike many hot dog places on the streets, they accept credit cards! Especially important if like me you decided to visit and not exchange any cash.

I’m not one for hot dogs but these were the bees knees(and I don’t use that term — EVER). The award winning organic hot dog stand — The sausages are made of organic meat. The bread is whole grain, from slowly raised dough and topped with linseeds. Everything is organic from the remoulade sauce to the fried onions. They even had a vegan tofu dog for me! If you’re in the area and feeling slightly peckish or. I don’t know. You want to try the most luxurious hot dog of your life then this is the place!

Oh my goodness. This street dog was the perfect afternoon snack. Filling, plump, full of toppings and organic. Who can beat that? The line was mildly long as we waited to order. You can choose your set up — bun, bread, breadless, toppings or lack there of and what type of meat. Our group had a mix of offerings, some choosing goat(great reviews), one getting a garlic pork(medium review) and vegetarians(who gushed over their delicousness). I choose a spicy beef hotdog, roasted with all the toppings. Toppings included pickled cucumbers(aka yummy pickles), crispy onions, mustard, ketchup, and remoulade. It was the perfect combo of salty, sweet and crunchy. The hotdog wasn’t really spicy but was nice grilled so the outside skin had a bite of bite and broke with the delicious hotdog juices. Tip: Go. Get the classic roasted with all the toppings. Have your freedom with the type of meat though. They take cards and cash; also they sell sodas and misc drinks.

I feel like it is overrated. Though I like the concept of organic sausages. I tried pork and regular hot dog. It taste like regular hot dogs. I tried their mash potatoes too, it feels comfortable after eating them. However I think it is just average, but i would still go if i get hungry in støget. I have been touched by the hot dog in Colombia before, and this one doesnt surprise me well.

So a week or so before leaving on my trip to Copenhagen, I received an email about all the lovely street food you can get around the world, and in this list was getting a hot dog in Copenhagen. Now, I had heard of the Nordic obsession with hot dogs in the past. My friend from Iceland tells me how she eats a ridiculous number of them when she goes home. Another friend told me that there’s an abundance of hot dog eating that takes place on Norwegian Independence Day(which really sounds a lot like American Independence Day in that sense). So I decided I was going to have to give this hot dog thing a go before leaving Copenhagen. Thanks to the Unilocal and the Internets, this place seemed like the best place to go. And also it’s right next to the Round Tower so you can have a hot dog before or after climbing to the top! What a great combination! We ordered the grilled hot dogs because they looked amazing. This place has your standard hot dog, but we opted to go for a more interesting sausage, because if you’re going to do it, you might as well go all out! I had the goat hot dog with rosehip and rosemary with all the standard toppings and spicy ketchup. The other half did the same but with the beef sausage instead. They were pretty tasty although hard to eat. The toppings are some of my favorite things, although the sliced pickles and fried onions did easy fall off the top and onto the cement where there is a plethora of pigeons waiting there to eat up your scraps.(Except for the pickles, they wouldn’t touch those!) All in all it was tasty, but really not the most tasty hot dog I’ve ever had. I think I currently reserve that for a place in London, but it’s definitely worth a trip if you want a fairly inexpensive lunch while wandering the street of Copenhagen(and they’re apparently organic here, so that means they’re better, right?)

One of the coolest street concepts I’ve seen in the world. I never heard of organic street food much rather an organic hot dog stand. The food does taste much better than the average hot dogs you get from other stands in Copenhagen. It tastes healthier and fresher. There’s always a line outside but one lucky snowy day, there wasn’t so I decided to try the risket hot dog. It’s served with sweet pickles, raw onions, fried onions, ketchup and mayo. It was pretty good, the bread was toasted nicely, not too hard or crunchy, soft on the inside. My only regret is only getting a bacon wrapped hot dog instead. I’d say the place is worth the hype. Extra plus: they take credit card! Which is always rare when it comes to street food.

Top of the class hotdogs! Seriously, the best sausages + bread meal I have ever had. Everything is organic, and also healthier than the most other hotdog vans. With the real deal, incl. an organic whole-wheat bread; you can actually become satiated after just one hotdog — the good way. DØP does also serve other stuff, including organic lemonade, and chocolate milk.

Being spoiled by the street meat stands in Toronto, I wasn’t as impressed with this famous hot dog stands as I otherwise should be. This place is featured on a ton of «must eat» in Copenhagen websites and books. For 45 dkk(6EUR!) it’s one expensive and small hot dog. The dressings are good — mainly the fried onions is the icing on the cake. The pickles on the top were a fun touch, too bad they all fall off easily, as shown by the abundance of pickles around the Round Tower. It’s a good hot dog, but i can make that hot dog easily at home for much much MUCH cheaper — well maybe not organic, which I guess is what you are paying for.

Danes take their hotdogs seriously, as witnessed by hotdog wagons liberally sprinkled all over Copenhagen. DØP, or Den Økologiske Pølsemand(the organic hotdog man), stands out because everything served here is, well, organic including soft drink, AND tastes good. You have choice of beef or pork or chicken dog, whole grain bun or mashed turnip for non-bread eaters. In typical Danish style, the dogs are about twice as long as the bun, toppings include 1:1:1 ratio of squirts of mustard, ketchup, and remoulade, mountains of crispy fried onions. It’s almost impossible to eat without making a mess, but it’s all part of the experience. If you are in the vicinity of Round Tower and in the mood for a snack, make it a DØP stop.

map places it a little south of where it actually is, base of round tower. so it’s a hotdog, however for being all organic, maybe this one is better for you? doesn’t taste that much different, roasted little onion bits nice. just like all the other variations over the years such as japadog, currywurst, etc. I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

AN organic hotdog place in a shack by the base of the Round Tower/church? Very intuitive right? we were looking for it and we still walked right past it. We had lunch at the much beloved Restaurant Schønnemann, but we had left room for munching through out the day. DØP was one of the places that a friend had recommended. Roasted hotdog with the works on a slow raised sourdough. I like that they’re hot huge and if you were making a meal you might want to get two out of the three choices. Who says fast food can’t be good and good for you right?
