Sixt

We had a similar experience with Sixt as another customer. The customer service people at the desk at the Copenhagen airport were fine. The car was excellent, ran well the entire time we had it. When my son and I were to bring the car back, we stopped in the town next to the airport and filled the tank. Bringing it back, the fellow checking us in looked over the entire car and said we were good to go. I told him I had a receipt for the gasoline. He said he didn’t need it. A few days later when we got home, there was charge on the final bill for gas of about 8 to 9 liters at $ 26dk/​liter. I immediately sent an email. A person emailed back asking for the receipt I had. I sent it to them. They emailed back the check-​in sheet and a picture of a gas receipt for the gas they supposedly put into the car. The check-​in sheet showed an indicator of a full tank of gas which was crossed out and the next lower indicator circled instead. Talk about cheap tricks. Then, after a nastygram from me, the person said the registration number of the vehicle was on their gas receipt. It was handwritten with no official gas station on it. Needless to say, they won’t get my rental business anymore.
Stay away from this company. Or, if you MUST to use them (there are plenty others I’ve used with good results), take pictures of the entire car before and after plus the dash including the fuel indicator plus keep your receipt.
Just don’t use ‘em.

Beware of overbilling and lack (not poor, we mean «lack») of customer service. We rented a car through an online car hire aggregator, showed up the day we needed the car and we received the vehicle in the category we wanted. So far, so good. We returned the car with a full tank, the guy who received it said we’re «all good» and we went our merry way. That’s when the problem’s started. About six hours after dropping the car, we received via email a final invoice with a fuel charge of about 700 Danish Kroner (that’s more than $ 100, for those unfamiliar with Danish exchange rates). We immediately sent an email requesting a refund/​adjustment. No answer to that email. We called the next day, explained the situation again, and we were informed we would be called back within a few hours. That didn’t happen. Another email. No reply. We called again at 5:15 PM, this time no answer and no voicemail either. Meanwhile our credit card has an authorization from Sixt for $ 370. What? One other thing: we also got charged by some insurance provider $ 18 for insurance that was never provided. That wasn’t a Sixt issue, except it was more «hair» on the deal. All in all — a very Bad Experience. Avoid Sixt if you can.
