I came to eat here after my class for lunch and I loved there sandwiches. I also love their layout of the restaurant very hipster vibe !

Whenever I’m in the Frederiksberg area, I always tend to drop by District Tonkin(they also have another branch at droningens Tværgade) for a Vietnamese sandwich aka«bahn mi». Located on a street with many places to satisfy your hunger, it is my preferable one when wanting to cater to my asian cravings. They have a few seats outside the little shop, but I always prefer to sit inside, as outside gets me a little too close to the pedestrians. When you step inside, first thing you will notice, are the electrical cables hanging from the ceiling. It looks so cool. You can really feel they want to give their customers, a feel of Vietnam. So far I’ve only tasted their sandwiches, which they offer four different types of. Besides those, they also have a beef and a chicken rice noodle salad, and few other items. I always get the pork one, cause I’m such a habit creature. But the beef one is also pretty good. If you’re not a fan of cilantro, remember to tell them, as the sandwiches are stuffed with this delightful herb. While you’re waiting for your food(like 10min. tops) you can have a look further in the back of the shop, as they have a small selection of candles, lamps, ceramics and other items for sale. District Tonkin is a great place to have a quick lunch/coffee and a chat. Definitely a place worth checking out.

I Vietnamese gem. If you have ever been to Vietnam and fallen in love with their food scene, this pace will take you right back. Simple menu, but it doesn’t matter when they make what’s on it to perfection.

Great Banh Mi sandwiches. I’m from LA with a good sized Vietnamese community and lots of good Vietnamese restaurants. And i can say this place was awesome!

First of all, the décor in this place is awesome! I love their funky lights, shelving and reclaimed wood tables with vintage touches. The food was awesome too! I had the rice noodles with chicken. It was so flavorful and filling! I couldn’t even finish it(but I wanted to because it was so good). The service was great too. My husband is a bit of a picky eater, and they accommodated his needs by making his beef baguette very plain. I would definitely recommend this place!

The service was awesome and the food was great! Took the ricenoodlesalad and it was delicious! The banh mi with pork wasnt that much taste and i think more cha siu taste would suit better and maybe the bread was a little bit too thick and they are missing out the carrot & cabbage thing people used to have in banh mi. That’s why i give 4 stars only. On the other hand the beef banh mi was better. More flavour on the beef than the pork. Still good banh mi’s though. We ordered the banh mi for take away home back to Sweden, Malmö and it was cold since we had it like night snacks so maybe one of the reasons why. I would definitely recommend this place even though it wasnt that much on the menu! Looking forward to try the stew next time we are in Copenhagen.

I’ve had the pork and beef Banh Mi and they were both delicious. I believe the beef one has a stronger flavor, so my preference can change depending on how I am feeling. The Vietnamese coffee is also pretty good. I also ordered a still water, not knowing that there is a jug of tap water at the counter for free. Unfortunately, when I was there the worker came to my seat to tell me the bottles of still water had run out, with an already opened bottle of sparkling water(which I hate) in his hand and asked me if it was okay. I thought that was unfair because he had already opened the bottle without asking so I ended up paying for it without drinking it.

A couple friends and I have been meaning to go to this place, and we’re so glad we finally did! The banh mi was delicious(we had the beef) and one of my friends had the Vietnamese salad with chicken(I think?) and vermicelli and all the awesome vegetables and chili in the land. She said it was awesome and my tasting of it confirms this. The concept shop itself is also delightful; we enjoyed looking around and the members on our party who have been to Vietnam enjoyed a trip down memory lane. The guys working there were really nice and courteous. We aim to go back to try the coffee because it sounds like another good experience to be had.

Really nice place. The staff were really friendly. Reasonable prices. Had the beef Banh Mi and it was delicious. The noodle salad looked gorgeous. There is a shop there also which has some nice stuff.

Came in here and had: the Beef sandwich Lemonade Verdict: A solid 4(3,67). Their prices are pretty fair on the sandwiches(55 kr) which is good value for money, but I won’t recommend ordering their drinks, they’re too expensive and made my lunch-tab go from 55 kr to 90 kr(increase of just under 40%). FOR A DRINK. The Sandwich 4⁄5 — I love vietnamese taste, I like french baguettes. The ingredients in the Sandwich were good and fresh and very tasty. Size-wise it was a good lunch size baguette, not too much, not too little. The price of 55 kr for a sandwich is pretty standard based in Copenhagen. The Lemonade 3⁄5 — very tasty, but VERY expensive vietnamese lemonade(35 kr for 35 cl). Atmosphere + Service 4⁄5 — this shop’s décor consists of cool furniture & accessories you can buy! Very special interior decorating, but kinda of reminded me a little of hanoi it a pleasing and charming way. This is unique!

Went there for the first time today and shared the beef and vegetarian sandwich with a friend. Let me tell you, it was delicious! And if that wasn’t already reason enough to come back, the service is super friendly, the interior top notch stylish and the prices quite reasonable for Copenhagen.

Perfect spot for lunch– their Vietnamese baguettes are the best I’ve ever had. The space itself is really cool and interesting(definitely trendy but all the intricacies of the furniture and décor create a very homey vibe as well). The waiter was beyond nice and steered us to the pork baguette to us when we asked for a recommendation, and it was just as fantastic as he said it was. Can’t wait to visit here again.

A place selling traditional Vietnamese baguettes. There was no place to sit down when we went, but the weather was good, so we took our sandwiches to a nearby park to enjoy in the sun. I had a baguette with pickled veggies, herbs, Vietnamese sausage, and marinated pork. Oh, and there was some fish sauce in there as well. Wife had a baguette with beef. Both sandwiches were really good. The sausage and pork one had the most intense flavours of the two. The beef sandwich was tasty, with sesame dressing. Everything was just perfectly balanced. Baguette was crispy on the outside, and creamy on the inside, just as they should be. One of the best sandwiches to be had in Copenhagen at the moment. Only complaint: they didn’t provide any napkins for our take away :)

trendy-looking asian eateries tend to scare me off, but this one is great. friendly and attentive service and delicious food at reasonable prices, what else do you want? i got the banh mi with sausage. the bread is the first thing i notice: broader than most baguettes one comes across in denmark, the crumb is properly chewy with a crispy, crackling crust. there is a generous amount of coriander and pickled carrots and daikon along with the sausage, and spiced with fresh sweet chili and peppercorns. the vietnamese coffee didn’t let me down either. i just left and i’m already looking forward to coming back!

I haven’t been this excited about a new restaurant/café in a long time. Same as Mina, I’m wary of trendy or too-cool Asian eateries, but Tonkin definitely has substance behind its pretty façade. And it is_very_pretty with curated rustic charm and stylishly arranged vignettes of books, art, ceramics and other purchase-ables. Vietnamese coffee is sweet and strong, just how I like it, and comes nestled in a warm bowl of water to soften up the condensed milk at the bottom. It was a nice detail. The beef soup I had was very flavourful; spicy and fresh with lemongrass and cilantro. Because of the concept nature of the shop, everything inside can be purchased, including the furniture, and this means that everything has a little price tag dangling from it. This was probably the only detail I didn’t enjoy about the shop. Otherwise a beautiful space with delicious food and warm service.
