Palæo in torvhallerne is a small place. A really small place. So small, that in fact, they only have about 8 seats or so, placed into pairs at each table. As a result, it’s impossible to find somewhere to sit. Which is probably okay if you’re ordering take-away or the weather is nice outside, but in the middle of a rainy november it’s not so nice. Luckily, my mum and I went to Palæo just for the cakes. We had spotted these delicious baked goods when we had lunch the day before, and decided to try on a rainy afternoon. I went for the cheese cake, my mum the dark indulging chocolate cake. Both were så delicious and filling. I think both was raw made as well, so maybe it’s not quite right to call them«baked good»… Anyway, we ate up fast and wished there had been more. Unfortunately they ran out while we were there. I really can’t give Palæo no more than three stars because of the(non-existing) space, and partly because the staff seemed to be in a bit of a rush(I would be stressed too if I worked there). And because they ran out of cake. Make more cake! If I ever go back to Copenhagen in the summer, I will definitely have more cake from Palæo.

I was very dissatisfied with the level of support I received at this restaurant and noticed the staff use their bare hands to prepare peoples food. This is very unsafe and can cause serious illness but they do not seem to care. Everyone was on their iphones and dancing to music and not paying attention to their customers. I left a and went next door to Simply Raw and got much better quality service and food. Also one of the staff members seemed more concerned about his appearance and when the paparazzi might come through the door to take his photo rather than paying attention to the needs of his customers. Please dont waste your time and risk your health by going here. There are much better options in Copenhagen

After getting lost in the market, we finally chose to eat at Paleo. I LOVED my juice with mint, apple, and blueberry and my chicken curry was small yet very filling with the nuts and starchy veggies. I look forward to coming again and trying more items on their menu. We snagged a spot to sit outside in September and it was a great location to chat and people-watch.

The food here is really good and even have a menu in English. But I asked for water 3 times before I got any. Lame. The idea behind the food is great. And I would come back again. But be prepared to demand water or you won’t get any :-(

Everything is dairy and gluten free in accordance with the paleo diet so it’s a great place to go if you have allergies.

Palæo’s newest location is on a nice little strip of street in Central Copenhagen with the likes of Raw42 as its nextdoor neighbor. Makes you feel healthy just walking by, what with all the low carb /healthy juices /raw foods hanging around(beginning to think this was a strategic move). Fairly cheap and easy dinner of a chicken wrap(the wrap is made out of egg and coconut flour) and a beet/celery/carrot juice and this girl is a happy camper with a happy belly. A fantastic alternative to other comparable meals in the area which are twice as expensive and ten times as unhealthy. It’s a damn shame that neither the Palæo in Torvehallerne, nor the one here on Pilestræde, are close to my house. I would probably come here daily, if that were the case. Pro-tip: they sell low carb pastries here, like coconut muffins, nut breads, and various other paleo friendly snacks if you need a treat on the run and are trying to resist visiting Lagkagehuset.
