This place really is in the top restaurants of the city. They are all professionals who work there and take pride in what thy do. The food was amazing and very French and lots of rich yummy sauces and butter. I must say one of the many highlights was towards the end where they brought it an entire ice cream cart with 10 different gelato flavors. The inside is gorgeous and I think pretty romantic. If you want a special night, come here!

Went there with great expectations. Total waste of money. We waited 30 min before they took our order. Had caviar for starter. The first serving of blinis we sent back. They were brown, crisp and oily. The second load where fryed in oil??? but not to brown. Out they went at the end we had the caviar without any at all. So far so bad. It could only go up after that. Must admit it wasn’t a lot. We had lovely wine though. The bill were huge especially when the food had been so badly executed. Don’t waste your money there!

It was a while ago, but the tasting menu was superb, one of the best restaurant experiences ever.

Went here on a Wednesday night with a good friend. The restaurant is relatively small in the basement of the oldest building in Copenhagen. The settings are beautiful /tasteful. The restaurant probably takes at most 30 people in the diningroom. The service is fantastic and very attentive. They are very knowable about the food and the wine. We had a number of small appetizers to get started with a glass of Champagne. Subsequently we had the tasting menu which is an 8 course dinner with matching wines. The dishes are not very large and you consume them over a period of 2 – 3 hours, so you will go away full, but not stuffed. The dishes include lobster, halibut, venison, cheese, strawberry, … Fresh season products. The quality is amazing and the taste matches it. The wines are very well matched to the dishes. Overall a really nice dining experience. I would recommend it to anyone. The price is significant, but the food matches the price is quality, taste and service. Great experience.

We spent $ 200 for a fine dining meal. I think we spent twice what we should have paid, but it was a good experience nonetheless. We came late and their kitchen was closing, and they let us do 80% of the tasting menu for 80% of the cost. The food was excellent, but what I remember the most was the cheese board. Definitely go for that. The atmosphere was interesting, very subterranean.

I visited back in August and this place is exceptionally good. This has been a consistently high performing restaurant for years. Very romantic, great service. Most notable is the spectacular venue in an old cellar. The cheese table is spectacular, very good selection of interesting cheeses. It’s VERY pricey, but that’s Copenhagen for you. Remember that tips are included. Ivan

Our first official meal in Copenhagen. Since it was only a fifteen minute walk from our hotel, so we took to the streets and headed to the restaurant. What most people don’t know is the place is very well hidden. It’s down an alley and downstairs in what is said to be the oldest building in Copenhagen proper. The cellar itself is over 700 years old, but the owners have spent much to keep it up and have added many modern touches. When you walk up to the restaurant you get a good view of the finishing kitchen and the bobbing of toques in a traditional French kitchen. As we walked in it was slightly after 9pm. Unbeknownst to us, the Danes tend to eat at around 7pm, so we were on the late side. Too late for the tasting menu. Shoot. However our server said that it was their goal for us to leave happy so we made somewhat of a mini tasting menu by splitting some of the dishes on the tasting menus and the normal entrees: MOSAICOFSLIGTHLYSMOKEDFOIEGRAS With gizzards, nuts & beetroots LOBSTERROASTED& Bisque Salsify in different preparations SLIGTHLYCUREDSWEETBREADS& «HAVGUS» Spring salad based on the first asparagus with chick weed NORTHSEATURBOT Onion assortment and sauce with caramelized onions and shrimps CUBISMOFMARSHLANDBEEF Green & white asparagus with roasted marrow. Cep Béarnaise FILETOFLAMBFROMTHEMARSHLAND New onions & garlic in mild nuances DANISHOSCIETRECAVIAR&WILDOX Pickled onions & onion soubise Maarbjerg A SELECTIONOFMATUREEUROPEANCHEESES With their garnishes from our trolley Maybe the most French leaning in the restaurants we had, it still had many Danish twists in the execution. Chef Thome Rode Andersen and sommelier wife Tilde Maarbjerg run the back and front of the house respectively. Like the food, the wine and even some of the cheese lean toward the opulent and delicious French selections. As the oldest holder of a Michelin star in Copenhagen, it was delicious as expected. The sweetbreads and lobster dishes were outstanding. At first the service was a bit on the formal side and it took us a few interactions to loosen then up. As we started asking for recommendations and discussing the merits of traditional Danish lunch and dinner, Tilde especially became very friendly and chatted us up as we closed them down. The mention of Smørrebrød seems to draw the best out of every food lover in Denmark and this was the first reaction we got to see as our first dinner. It was great start to what would be a wonderful gastronomic trip. For those of you unfamiliar with Danish ingredients in fine dining, this makes for a great way to get eased into the cuisine.
