Great bar in kongens nytorv with a charming and traditional interior. Good service, nice atmosphere, just wished they had a wider selection of beer.

We had been walking alllllll day(over 20 miles according to my tracker) and I was exhausted and just wanted to sit down for a bit and grab a drink before we continued on to the hotel. I am so glad that we picked this place because it is one of the oldest bars in the city(1723) and it’s actually rather large inside. My friend and I grabbed a spot in the back so we could chat without bothering other people and each of us had two Irish coffees while we recuperated and warmed up from the chill outside. The inside is all wood, and there is the most gorgeous hand made bar in the back area that my friend(who works with wood) was gaga over. The beams in the ceiling, the warmth inside, the friendly staff — it’s the kind of place you dream of finding when you’re heading to another country and want to stop for a drink. It’s a bit of the old world inside the new and was a welcome oasis for both of us. While neither of us tried the gløg, the bar is full of articles and awards for the drink and I’m a little sad we didn’t grab a glass and toast the bartender with a friendly skål!

We were here around Christmas and had read that this place had a long and venerated history of making Glögg. We were not disappointed. The Glögg was hot and delicious, perfect for a cold rainy Danish day. The Glögg was not as spiced as some I have had, which allowed the port flavor to come through strongly. The raisins are replaced after steeping them since May, which leads to them being less boozy. The place is very old with had hewn beams on the ceiling and a great old vibe. I don’t think that calling this a dive bar is correct. It is not hip and modern but I didn’t get divey. The place was packed with most everyone drinking Glögg. The crowd was a mix of people from young folks to creepy old dudes. Very festive and loud. I am not sure what this place would be like for a beer but if you want Glögg then this is a must,

This is one of the oldest and most traditional«Vinstue”/bodegas in Copenhagen, and often home to the artist from the Royal Danish Theater right across from the place. The selection of alcohol is actually slightly disappointing and a pint of Grøn Turborg seems to be the weapon of choice. But the buzzing atmosphere and dressed up waiters more than make up for it!

Gløg… gløg… gløg… I’m quite happy we stumbled with this bar a wet and cold nordic evening. As soon as we came in we noticed the smell of gløg filling up the place. Finding a table turned out quite a challenge. Who knew warm wine is even a better conversation lubricant than coffee? Nobody was leaving their table! Once we found a suitable place, we were up for a treat. It turns out this little bar has been serving traditional gløg since the fifties, producing about 8000 liters of the good stuff every year. No sugar added, all natural ingredients. Come to think of, I will go back sometime this week for a bottle. I’m sure it will put a smile on someone on my Christmas list.

Been there in December and it was packed with locals. Which is always a good sign. Cosy, local touch and attentative staff. Loved the hot wine with nuts — or whatever that was ;-)

This bar was very empty considering a Saturday night. There just seemed to be Green Tuborg on tap(I may have missed a decent bottled selection apparently but I didn’t see anything behind the bar or on the menus). Nice old looking place(300 years oldish) but completely devoid of atmosphere.
