Amazing almond croissants! Found this place thanks to fellow Unilocalers, and I’m glad we did. Opens early-get there when they open and get a warm, freshly baked good. Chocolate croissant was a bit bready, but the regular and almond were on point. Would be my go-to if I lived here.

Easily one of the best bakery I’ve tried in Copenhagen. EVER! I might not now much about spots in this city yet, but I already love this. Like, I’m falling for it! Dragged here on an early rainy morning by a friend, I was groggy enough to tell him: «Alright, you order for me…». When I tasted it… why the hell didn’t I know this place sooner? We had some poppy seeds bread, an amazing danish cinnamon snail and rabarber pastry(I really can’t recall the exact name of it but it’s pretty famous over here). It was all so fresh and so tasty that each bite brought up tears to my eyes and I couldn’t stop eating. These were by far the most amazing pastries I’ve had since my stay. And Brød doesn’t exclusively sell pastries! They serve bread(«brød», as the term suggests) and also have a small café area, in case you’d want to grab something to drink as well. Anyway, in case you’re over in Vestebro and you’re craving for a pastry, this is the place for you. It’s a bit pricey but the quality repays it all. Trust me. Long live Brød!

I came here and had a tebirkes for breakfast. It was really good! Perfectly sweet with a nice flaky crust.

This bakery is hands down the best I’ve ever been to. Their tebirkes are TODIEFOR!!! I ordered two because the first one was not enough! I loved the decadent buttery pastry and the crispy marzipan that hardened into a mouthwatering crunch during the baking process. The coffee is good here too, and you can get a punch card for drinks! The customer service was wonderful, I practiced my Danish with the woman working at the counter and she was very patient with my terrible pronunciation [I have since learned how to say«tebirkes» in a way that doesn’t mean«ten burgers,» as it has become my go-to order in any bakery(though none have topped the glory of Brød’s)]. GOHERE! There is enough seating if you want to sit for a while, but I also noticed people buying bread and pastries to go. Totally worth a trip to this area of town! Also the prices are affordable, and all of the pastries are fresh out of the oven(none of this sitting-around-all-day bullshit)!!

It’s like a bakery out of a story book. The almond croissant is a must — I’ve had two this week as well as a pan au chocolate. It’s become a real problem! Everyone skuttles about replenishing the fresh breads and pastries while a steady stream of people comes in. I think the deli next door also gets their foccocia bread from them for their sandwiches(which is also a MUST — The Napoli!!!). Great street art on this block as well.

A little bit of San Francisco in this fair city is not a bad thing. Chad Robertson of Tartine fame extends his delicious baked goods recipes to this unassuming bakery in Vesterbro and we are all the better for it. A huge nod, too, to Claus Meyer(Grupe & Meyer) for his amazing range of(gluten heavy) flours. I love a chewy yet airy loaf of bread! Among our favorite sweet treats sampled are the chewy and moist walnut brownies and not-too-sweet raspberry-hazelnut squares. We purchased a sturdy little walnut-olive loaf to take back to CH with us and we’re awfully glad we did. The consistency of the bread is both springy and chewy with just enough olive and walnut bits to go around. Putting any sort of spread or topping on this purple-hued loaf almost does it a disservice. This bread stands alone! Not interested in buying a whole loaf? Brød also bakes a variety of rolls. :) Unlike SF’s Tartine and Bar Tartine, Brød is not swarming with custom, but it should be. PS: avoid ordering Brød’s coffee – go to Enghave Kaffe, just a few doors down, instead!

If you find yourself in the Vesterbro area of Copenhagen, a breakfast at Brød is highly recommend. Just select a few of whatever looks good, and go to town. This is just such a treat. Don’t forget a coffee(and you can buy a bag of beans to take home!).
