Jazz Dock

What a great place to see a show! We bought standing tickets (250 CZK each/​about US$ 11) for Michal Pavlíček & Trio and my husband and I were blown away by the performance. Except for being right on the water with the boats going by I could easily imagine being back in Chicago at the old Hot House on Balbo (the new Buddy Guy’s) or Phyllis’ Lounge. We were steps away from four of the most accomplished musicians we’ve seen live in a long time, and man, did they rock! And being a fan of not only rock, but blues and jazz I know of what I speak. :)
The place is small, real small, with only about ten or fifteen tables set up (those tickets go fast and were about a hundred crowns more), and enough room to hold no more than a hundred people it seems (I don’t know the capacity,) but it’s very comfortable and seems more spacious with all the windows. It’s also right around the corner from our apartment, so there’s the convenience factor as well. I don’t know about parking, but I assume it’s on the street.
The night we went it was non-​smoking (thank goodness), and being so small it might get quite smoky, so you might want to check beforehand if that kind of thing bothers you. It bothers me and I’m an ex-​smoker!
Food is served and the portions looked large, but we only ordered a beer (40 crowns), so I can’t really comment on that, but the people sitting near us seemed to enjoy it. Staff were friendly and spoke English, and the bathroom was clean. What more can you ask for?

We arrived late at Prague and chose this location. It was a great experience. Music was great, cocktails & wine & food were good and the value was great as well.

Enjoyed a fun evening of jazz here after dinner with friends in Prague. Reasonable cover charge, great selection of beers or wines, and excellent riverfront jazz with an attentive, appreciative audience. While many customers do smoke, it’s fairly easy to get away from the fumes since people tend to come and go. We started out in the back of room on makeshift chairs and ended up at a cozy table near the front of the stage within an hour. Great spot for a lively nightlife experience — the music was so good, it was almost 2am by the time we left. Highly recommend.

This place is located on a really nice street of Praha 5. I was very impressed by the view located on the water. When we walked in, the staff seem to be a little snobby. The host was rude from asking about our reservations to having us pay $ 20 (which we didn’t mind) before sitting down. I really did not appreciate her attitude as she thought we were going to sneak in and not pay. This is why I have rated this place poorly.
The band was great! but i wish they spoke in english just the way they sang all their songs in english. The drinks were actually pretty good, but they went a little stingy on the pour. My friend asked for whiskey on the rocks. It was definitely less than a shot. Drinks were a little expensive compared to Czech prices between 150 – 200.
I’m a non smoker and this place is pretty small so it can get very smokily. They need a good ventilation system and a better staff.

Wer in Prag ist und nicht die Standard-​Touri-​Abzock-​Lokale mit Pseudo-​Lokalkolorit besuchen möchte, ist hier genau richtig. Das Jazz-​Dock liegt direkt an der Moldau auf der Westseite und ist uns gleich beim nachhause laufen aufgefallen.
Wir waren dienstags dort, auf dem Programm stand funkiger Fusion-​Jazz, das klang vielversprechend. Wir haben noch zum Glück den Tipp beherzigt, doch einen Tisch zu reservieren. Sehr freundlich wurde mir versichert, dass wir einen sehr schönen Platz am Fenster bekommen.
Die Musik begann um 22 Uhr, wir waren bereits um 20.30 da, um noch in Ruhe essen zu können. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, hier wird sich richtig um die Gäste gekümmert. Wasserflasche leer, sofort wird nachgefragt. Glas leer, schon steht jemand da, um das Glas zu füllen. Die Speisen sind abwechslungsreich und auf oberen Niveau (nicht vom Preis, aber vom Geschmack) angesiedelt. Dazu gibt es leckere Weine und abwechslungsreiche Cocktails. Hier aber nicht das Standard ⁰⁸⁄₁₅ Programm sondern neue und unerwartete Kombinationen. Machte richtig Spaß, die Cocktails auszuprobieren.
Der Laden war dann gegen 21.30 richtig voll, was man so gehört hat, waren es hauptsächlich Tschechen, aber auch zwei Gruppen mit Amerikanern waren da. Ansonsten offensichtlich keine Touristen, das spricht sicher für sich ;-) Auch das Konzert war wirklich gut, abwechslungsreiche Musik und genau richtig für so einen Abend. Mit 150 Kronen Eintritt kann man hier nicht viel falsch machen.
Also rundum ein gelungener Abend, reservieren nicht vergessen und Spaß haben! Die Preise passen auch, wir haben in Prag sonst für mehr Geld weniger Qualität bekommen. Auf der Website findet Ihr das aktuelle Programm sowie Speise– und Getränkekarte.

I gave an extra star simply for the FAB entertainment provided by artists I paid to come and listen to. The price was reasonable for the quality of performance given.
The club is quite small & sits directly on the river. So, views are lovely. The staff were a bit snooty for my taste. I got the impression that they were trying to be a «posh» private club by having candles on the tables (plastic tables with clear plastic chairs). There were fresh roses in the toilets and lotion on the sink (the one & only sink placed so close to the door that whilst washing hands, I was hit in the back by said door when someone else wished to use toilet).
Drinks weren’t over-​priced but food was. We didn’t eat anything, as no wait staff ever offered a menu. (Borrowed another patrons after they were finished just to have a look)
Nothing smelled extraordinary. Especially over all the cigarette smoke wafting about the small space.
