I’m a Californian who has visited my sister in Santiago a few times — this bread is awesome, mostly dense rye bread. A good balance to the sugar-bomb that is most Chilean breads. :) I tried an 80% rye that had grated carrot and walnut in it – about 6US dollars, but lasted us a while as it’s so much more filling. Everyone loved it, including my Chilean brother-in-law!

When I first walked passed this bakery despite being in a hurry to go to a meeting, I stopped dead in my tracks and stared longingly at the delicacies in their window display. Throughout my meeting, the only thing I could think of was going back to Semilla and discover what more they had to offer. As soon as the meeting ended, I jumped out of my seat, kissed everyone on the cheek and left to go straight there. The wait was definitely worth it! Not only do they make some awesome natural bread but they even have the organic brand, Eden(I obviously have mixed feelings about this since I am happy to have a quality brand I know and trust but, due to their current women’s rights mess up, I am not supporting them, so sad it was the only option for organic grains). Regardless, they have a ton of other organic products such as coffee, tea, coconut oil(yay!) and raw organic cacao powder. Although they have some amazing gourmet and organic items in their shop, they are best known for their bakery. They make great large loafs of all-natural whole grain breads. I recommend getting a loaf of either Albahaca Quínoa or Tomate Seco Ciboulette(toast it and drizzle some organic olive oil on top… yum!) If you are not a fan of whole wheat, they have a ton of white bread varieties such as Cebolla-Queso(seriously good!) as well as Quiche and empanadas. And for all of those who have a sweet tooth, they do make some kickass muffins, cookies(«galletones» because they are huge!) and bread with chocolate! Ojo: They are only open Monday-Friday so make your way there after work to get your fix.
