I used to be very close with a group of ultra rocker friends and they would always play shows here(ex bar Moe’s). Besides being somewhat far away from the centro, this is a great location with super cheap drinks. However, I have to be honest with you, I am a grandma and the loud music and rocker vibe is a bit more intense than I prefer my Saturday nights to be. Don’t get me wrong, when I was 20 this was a great place to come — cheap and large piscolas and friends playing in the band made it even easier to get drinks, but it’s just not for me anymore. So last week, I got a call from one of my old friends telling me they were all meeting up again at Ex Moe’s(although it’s called Bar Rebelion they still refer to it as Moes) to play a show for charity and they would love for my partner and to come along and support and be together like old time. So despite my urge to say no, he pulled at my heart strings, I am not evil… how could I say no to charity? Together with my partner, we put our dancing shoes on and I put our earplugs in my purse(ok, not really but I was thinking about it) and got in a taxi. My friends met us at the door with a hug and I said«hi» to a bouncer who once protected my friend and I while we made calls outside(back when the area was a bit more sketchy). We got one of the few tables in the area as it was reserved for the guys and we started with a couple of beers(you know, for charity…). The band was A LOT better than I originally had remembered and I guess the noise level wasn’t AS loud as I thought either(plus, now that no one can smoke, it made it a lot more bearable since the area around the stage is very small). We also played pool and talked after the show — it was fun! Bar Rebelion is not for the lighthearted and definitely good for any die-hard 80’s and 90’s rock fans.
