Don’t judge the book by its’ cover. Great sushi, even tried a new salmon role that was awesome(no name as of yet). Friendly staff — I’ll be back.

This place is pretty good for sushi in Winnipeg but I personally think it’s far from the best. I ordered the Teriyaki Beef Roll($ 4.70), Pacific Roll($ 5.00), Spicy Tuna Maki($ 4.20), and Spider Roll($ 8.00). A few things to note about this place is that service is very disorganized. Servers are not assigned to certain tables so the only way to get a server is through the chance that they come by or if you flag one down. I also called in to make a reservation and was told«We do not take reservations on Friday evenings.» Okay, that was completely fine with me but when I arrived and was waiting to be seated, I could CLEARLY hear the person on the phone at the front desk taking down a reservation for 6:45PM. Aside from that, the food came out really fast which surprised me as sushi usually takes time to make. The rice on the sushi was on the unpleasant side as it was very mushy and packed, especially in my Spicy Tuna Maki. In terms of rice to filling ratio it was quite good but my Spicy Tuna Maki had a large amount of rice to fish which made it unpleasant. Overall the price to portion here is decent but I probably will not be back unless it is convenient and there is nowhere better to go.

This place was awesome. Great rolls, salads and their own unique selections. Likely back again tomorrow.

Strip mall surprise. Located in a strip mall, plaza in an industrial park by the airport and all the airport hotels, this place is a pleasant surprise. A couple of windows look out to the drab parking lot, with the rest of the tables placed around the restaurant to make it seem less like a square box. At the back of the restaurant is a sushi bar and the kitchen. The menu features lots of regular sushi stand bus, but also some really unique options. I opted for their tuna gomae, which featured sliced tuna, chopped avocado, and spinach in a rich sesame sauce, some age tofu and an unagi hand roll. Everything was delicious, especially the gomae. The service was polite and prompt. A must for any lover of sushi in Winnipeg.

Very good sushi rolls. They have a huge variety with a lot of unique options. The first time I ate their sushi, it was what was leftover after my mother went with her students. They had ordered a ton of sushi and had plenty left over. Even after a few hours, it was fantastic. The one that stood out the most was the few remaining pieces of the volcano roll. After eating such good left over sushi, I had to try it myself and have now been there many times. The restaurant is fairly small, and the atmosphere is pretty standard for sushi places. Presentation is beautiful and portions are a good amount. A little bit pricier than your average but not too badly. The only thing I’m not a fan of is the rice. Too much vinegar is used in the water and as a result, the rice has a slight«cheap sushi joint» taste. But it’s not so bad that I would ever stop going.

This place is amazing! The servers were super friendly and the atmosphere is awesome. The food prices were inexpensive, and had a large variety to choose from.

This is the only place we go for sushi. We have been to a few of the others, but that’s all they are OTHERS. The sushi is wicked fresh and no matter how busy it is there on time with our food . Never disappointed !!! Thank you

I stand corrected. They do serve Tuna Tataki! It’s a bit pricey but you will not be dissappointed.

I cannot have sushi at any other place. You get hefty chunks of sushi, everything tastes fresh and service is good too. They’re often busy but that doesn’t stop them from getting your food out pretty quick. Everytime I have sushi at any other restaurant, I get legitimately disappointed. Even in expensive sushi restaurants.

I’ve been to this place a handful of times. It’s always delicious and cheap but the last time I was there I got food poisoning. I went with a partner on march 24 and we ordered 5 rolls, 3 with fish and 2 vege. She didn’t eat any of the fish and was fine. I on the other hand ate the fish rolls, salmon, tuna, and shrimp, and about 4 hours later was crippled with pain on the bathroom floor. I was up all night puking my guts out. I hope this was an isolated incident and would even venture to go back to sushi cushi. Remember Sushi Cushi, make your employees wash their hand more often and watch out for off fish.

Favourite sushi in Winnipeg. Swimming prawn roll is the best. Prices are great. Gyoza is good too just specify steamed or deep fried.

They use a sushi rice press here of some sort to make their nori rice. That’s like going to a burger joint and being excited that they cook their burgers«just like Burger King.» Pros, it’s cheap here. Cons, you pay for what you get. I went with my standard first-time-to-a-sushi-joint chirashi. The portion size was decent, but the presentation was crap. They just laid slivers of fish on top of each other(strike 1) and on top of that didn’t even bother to separate by type. For example, they had a piece of smoked salmon laying directly on a piece of non-descript white fish, so the flavors leaked together. I think you’re better off going rolls here, as they have a ton of them. This is definitely not a sushi-snob type place… more of a grocery-store quality joint.

We(family of 4) are visiting Winnipeg for a family holiday, and wanted to find a good Sushi restaurant for an early dinner tonight. Sushi Cushi was perfect. Great food, friendly wait staff, and very reasonably priced. The ambiance is nothing special, but we went for the food. My wife picked a fried teriyaki salmon roll which was amazing. The salmon nigiri had a generous portion of excellent salmon. The spicy tuna was perfect.

Back again I find for the area they are about the best, and it was between two things I was doing so I stopped by. I still find they do an good job of the Sushi and provide quick service. Yes I will likely make it back again when I am hungry and in the area.

I’d say this place is an Asian oasis in an odd stripmall location. The pro is that there is plenty of parking and shockingly when you walk inside, it’s super busy and nicely decorated. It’s very much the contrast to the empty after hours Brick’s parking lot. The price range is somewhat less expensive to average compared to other sushi places. Nigiri sushi(2 pcs) averages $ 3.50-$ 4.50, maki sushi and inside out rolls range from $ 3.50 to $ 5 with the spider roll at $ 8. Their specialty rolls average $ 12 and sashimi 4 pcs of tuna or salmon is $ 7 or 8 pcs for $ 13.50. This place has a dizzying array of rolls to choose though many of them are obviously slight deviations from another. I am not a fan of California rolls and unfortunately, this roll serves as the base to a few of their specialty rolls. There seems to be an emphasis on healthy offerings as they don’t use Japanese mayo here at all. Apparently the«SC sauce» is the mayo substituted by olive oil and some other healthier ingredients. There’s also a roll that made me laugh — the«crunch fibre roll» — apple, celery, asparagus and banana sauce. The roll doesn’t sound very appealing but I will give them props for originality. There’s even a dessert roll called the«tiramisu» — there’s a mixture of crabmeat, tobiko, mascarpone cheese and blueberry sauce. To be honest, that dessert roll sounds a bit scary! Lol. Their tuna goma ae($ 5.50) is probably one of the best ones I’ve had as the sesame dressing does not overpower the tuna, avocado and spinach. I would definitely order this again. The tuna/salmon sashimi($ 13.50 for 8 pcs) tasted very bland. This probably makes for good sashimi for those who are new to this cuisine because there’s no real flavour. But salmon and tuna are not tasteless or bland fish so this was quite odd. The chopped scallop roll($ 5) tasted very light as it didn’t the usual mayo in there, though I can’t say there was a lot of scallops. The negi tuna roll($ 4.20) is chopped tuna with green onions — a fav of mine but unfortunately this particular roll’s rice was too wet which changes the texture and flavour of the roll. The other roll didn’t have the same rice issue so I’ll chalk that up to a new batch of rice that wasn’t cooled properly. I’ve had soggy rice at other sushi places too so I won’t hold it against them. This place isn’t near me so I don’t know if I’d go out of my way to eat here but if I was in the area, it is a decent option for sushi though not the best.
