Terrible! Cold soup, slow service, forgot our order, took nips to wrong table they sat there for 8 minutes before those people told them they never ordered them then took back to kitchen and brought them out 12 minutes after they were ready and tried to serve them to us! We walked our disgusted! Do not go to this highly priced restaurant.

Sal’s, which is a Winnipeg tradition, deserves a better flagship restaurant than this. I thought when it opened it would be great — but it was only good if you wanted free food as an apology for a horrible experience. We stopped going for awhile to give them time to work out the bugs. To some degree, they did. Today, well… We sat in a booth and the waitress dropped menus and took off. She came back almost ten minutes later after jotting down another order and asked if we wanted something to drink. My wife said we were ready to order, and we were told she’d take our order when she got the order she had in and brought us our drinks. Umm… what? That made no sense. When I got my coffee, I was given a bowl of dirty creamers. Wish I’d noticed that before I used one. Our food got there quickly, but my breakfast sandwich order was wrong. It was replaced, but even so… not sure how many more chances we can give this place. On the up side, I got to get some reading done, seeing as I sent half the day in the bathroom after eating there.

This was a location that has seen many restaurants come and go — hopefully with Sals there, it will remain open for years to come!

This is a restaurant that I will only go to when my Uncle and Aunt in-law are in town because they enjoy it and they don’t have them in their area of Ontario. I love the look of the new location on Leila. They moved away from the cafeteria style restaurant and made it a sit down. The walls are loaded with blown up old photos of Winnipeg and old Salisbury Houses. It’s too bad they didn’t do anything to update the food. My cheese nip and fries left me hungry and unimpressed; my husband’s breakfast sent him running to the bathroom as soon as we got home. At least they have a baby changing table in the bathroom. That and the décor earned them the second star.
