My name is David Powell and I am the Broker and Owner of the Powell Property Group. I have been selling real estate in Winnipeg since 1990. In 1993, due to the economic climate of that time, I made the switch from a franchise brokerage to an independent real estate brokerage.

The introduction of the GST, the recession and the subsequent falling real estate prices created a very difficult situation for home sellers. These changes lead to an aggressive commission structure from 4%.

This new format offered home sellers an excellent opportunity to recapture the equity in their properties at the time. As time went on and markets fluctuated, the commission structure from 4% became a permanent company philosophy.

Over years I have been involved with the Winnipeg Realtors Association, Manitoba Real Estate Association and The Independent Real Estate Brokers of Manitoba.

I was a past director for the Winnipeg Realtors Association in ²⁰⁰⁵⁄₂₀₀₆ and have chaired such committees as Professional
