The Pan Am pool is an iconic swimming pool in Winnipeg. It was built for the 67 Pan Am Games and was used again in 99 for the second instalment of the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg. I’m no structural engineer but the place appears to be in pretty good shape for an almost 50 year old swimming and diving aquatics centre. Since my last visit(probably over 20+ years ago) they have added on another kiddie pool and lap pool. So it was great memories revisited for me to bring back my daughter to the Pan Am for a swim with her. This was the place my dad brought me to swim. Back in the day you would have to swim three lateral lengths of the pool to be able to use the deep end which included the 1M and 3M spring boards and the 3M and 5M platform diving areas. We loved jumping off these as crazy young kids. Back then on Friday night they would have Jungle night and would open up the 7.5M platform. I can remember jumping off this after being scared like a little boy as it was high up. Hell, the 5M was high back then. So many awesome memories of swimming here. It’s still a great place to swim!

A public swimming pool built to accommodate elite training and competition for speed swimming, synchronized swimming, diving, and water polo, this pool is more accurately called an aquatic center. There is a shalloiw end for aqua sizes and beginner swim lessons as well as a kids pool, a lap swimming pool, dive tank and 200 by 100 metre deep end. The center also has a walking/running track and weight room with eliptical machines, stationary bikes and treadmills. Spectator area is vast. Aside from elite training and competition, the pool is host to recreational sports and public swimming. Excellent prices and excellent facility.
