Top quality as always! King burger still reigns supreme! A Winnipeg mandatory stop! Get lots of napkins!

Great little burger stop. Good food for the price too. Love their fries. If you haven’t been here before, just know it’s not an eat in restaurant. You either get your food to go, or hope there is an open picnic table available nearby.

Some native Winnipeggers(not sure what you all call yourselves) I know claimed this was the best burger in the city, if not the entire country of Canada. Maybe even the entire continent. There was no way I was leaving Winnipeg this week without trying one. Mrs Mike’s is an unassuming stand, with a few picnic tables outside. Inside, on a hot griddle is where the magic happens. I ordered the standard cheeseburger and waited patiently outside in sub-freezing weather(‘all part of the experience’ my local friend told me). The burger itself is thick and juicy, high-quality meat, well-seasoned, and dripping with flavor. Probably the most seasoned burger I’ve had, and it was delicious. I think they could punch up the bun quality, and I was slightly missing some interesting condiments, but you can’t fault the purist offerings at Mrs Mikes. I believe the place is run by a Greek couple, and has been in business for decades. The woman at the counter was nice and friendly. So my verdict: definitely the best burger I’ve had in Canada, and probably top five I’ve had anywhere.

After eating about 5 veggie burgers in the last month(at Boon’s) I had to balance it off with a «real» burger. So I splurged(calorically speaking) on a burger at Mrs. Mikes. I don’t really give out 5 stars that often but this place really deserves it. I am still shocked and amazed at how good their burger is! I ordered the cheeseburger($ 5) — kinda pricey compared to VJ’s. But Mrs. Mike’s burgers are bigger comparatively speaking. The cheeseburger is on a sesame bun, probably the size of a whopper. The patty is just slightly bigger than the bun and cooked with a slight crisp on the outside but still juicy inside — I love that! The flavour of the beef patty is perfectly seasoned and balances so well with the cheese, pickle, chili, onion and mustard. They don’t put too much chili on their burgers so it’s not as messy to eat but you still get the chili flavour. Of course I had to order their fries($ 3). Now I’m torn on their fries because I was expecting the type of home cut fries(with the skin on) like at VJs but the ones here look and taste like McDonald’s fries(although they taste a bit better than McDs). I have my moments when I love McD fries but when I am going to a local burger joint, I totally expect more«homestyle» fries. So maybe that pulls them down to 4.5??? I don’t know… it’s all subjective anyways and I’m neurotic enough to get a cheeseburger here and drive down to Broadway to get the fries at VJs. LOL. I was pretty full after finishing the cheeseburger and eating half the fries but I didn’t feel too gross. You know that feeling when you’ve stuffed yourself with too much greasy food. So 5 stars for the cheeseburger and 4 stars for the fries = 4.5 stars, but I gave them the 5. The place seems pretty clean and organized in the kitchen. I was a little confused about where I was suppose to place my order as there are 2 widows(one in the front and one on the side). For the most part, it seemed like you order at the front, then wait for your order and then pick up and pay on the side window but then again some people did it differently. This place closes in the winter and closes at 7 pm so it’s not a late night burger joint. There is no indoor seating as there are only picnic tables on the right side, which is about as scenic as a parking lot/alley — I took mine to go. All the prices listed on the board include taxes so it’ll be a round number when you pay(CASHONLY). They have a king burger(which I’m curious to what in includes), no fat boy but maybe the king burger is their version of one??? They also serve chili fries, milkshakes, and chicken fingers. Note: they are open seasonally(closes for the winter). Tues-Sat 11 am to 7 pm.
