We had a 6 o’clock reservation and it look over 2 hours for just the appetizers. They were also unapologetic and not careful. They do not seem to know how to work under pressure which is not a very good quality for working at a, what seems like, a popular restaurant. The garlic bread was good, however, the Caesar salad was loaded with garlic and had barely any dressing on it. Only giving it a one star rating because it took FAR too long to get our food and the service was not good at all, they ended up sending what seemed like, guilt salads for making us wait forever.

Food was ok, actually can find more attentive service at a fast food drive thru. Was extremely disappointed in the service. Have been there previously and I would have rated it excellent but this time was extremely dissapointing. Obviously a management issue as the staff are not well trained in customer service.

Service and ambiance is really what pushed this to a 3 star instead of 2. It’s like a sleeker version of a Keg and with better service. But the food preparation and execution is a dud. If you have steakhouse in your name, you better be able to at least cook a steak to the proper level. I ordered my steak medium rare as per usual and received a rare, which would have been fine but it was way too salty. Service was great as the noted the error and took it back to try again. The manager came over and apologized and removed the charge without any hesitation or any prompting by me. But unfortunately the second steak came out even more rare… almost blue near the centre but at that point I didn’t want to say anything since they took the steak off the bill and I didn’t want to wait again. The Chop Experience dinners include a starter salad or soup(caesar salad, wedge salad, French onion soup or feature soup) plus seasonal vegetables and your choice of wasabi infused mashed potatoes, wild rice pilaf, baked potato or Chop cut fries. That can be done with any steak meal. The12 ounce new york striploin chop experience($ 39.95) — the portions are pretty generous. The caesar salad was very garlicy which I like and the wasabi infused mashed potatoes didn’t have any noticeable wasabi. The seasonal vegetables were a tad over cooked. But once again, service was great so points for the front of the house. Though they really need to work on cooking the steak properly.

Nice ambient, server very friendly, stars just for service, food is a crime on the customers, they need a good chef, my steak supposed to be medium rare but got a almost pure rare bad quality meat, fries was tasting plastic and the portion really to small for this high price, no thanks no anymore

My husband and I went to CHOP for a birthday dinner. It was dead inside so service was great but the food was very very plain. Nothing over the top tastes likes stuff I can make at home and I’m not a good cook. Going to the keg next time!

Had a very good time here, the food was delicious but of course with fancy places it was high in price and not as generous with serving size but I left full and enjoyed every minute of it

The décor at Chop Steakhouse is fun and inviting. The food(haddock), plating and service were all stellar.

Just your typical place that looks fancy and has attractive people serving mediocre food for high prices. Not a place that I would typically go to, but it was conveniently located in my hotel.

We almost did not go to chop due to bad reviews but other guest at our hotel said it was good. We were glad we listened to the people at our hotel. Good food at the same price point you would expect from this type of steakhouse(white table cloth but not top end) I recommend the chop combo. Wasabi mashed potatoes were very tasty. Wedge salad was more than just a quarter head of lettuce(also has tomatoes and radish. NY Strip was a nice cut with good flavor. 9 hour cheesecake for dessert, and it was fantastic. Service was very good

Great ambiance, quick service, friendly staff. Prime Rib was the driest piece of meat I’ve ever been served. Too dry to eat more than half of the small serving size. Waiter asked how it was and I told him it was too dry to finish. He wasn’t actually listening. He gave me my cheque, I paid and left.

Wow totally up and Down not consistent at all! We made reservation the same day, I was surprised to get a table for a larger group in such short notice and its also Dec23rd. We wanted to take our mother out for her birthday, and it was a reunion for my family and I. First time at Chop, very modern décor. When we arrive we were taken to a private room(bonus)!! It had a very large round table the room was really nice. Since we were with 3 kids it was nice to be able to have a private room. The drink and wine list was pretty good, and they offered really good specials. The food was probably the most disappointing, most of the party ordered steak, and since this was considered a steak place you would expect they would know how to cook steak. We had several issues with food. My sister ordered a flank steak, flavor was good but was not cooked to her liking, she asked for it rare, both times came out 1) medium well and 2) well done, the offered a third attempt but by this time everyone was finished eating. She ended up eating her sons steak which was done medium(came out perfectly). The manager offered to comp her meal, which I had expected and offered her a gift card for her next visit, but she’s from California she wont be back. I believe that the management did there best to try to make the best out of the situation. So the rest of the party had ordered started the kids off with some garlic bread, several of us had salads. I was visiting family we have been eating out a lot so, I had decided to have pasta I know its a steak place and I have pasta??? But trust me Im glad I did. I didn’t have any issues with my food like some of the people in my party. The pasta was good nothing special. Overall the experience here was ok. I don’t come to Winnipeg often enough to say I’d come back.

The chop has a beautiful outdoor patio that’s great for dinner or drinks on a nice night. Attractive waitstaff who are very friendly and attentive. The food is a bit overpriced but a solid choice. I ordered the Wasabi Ahi Tuna and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the entrée and it’s great flavor. I would most likely go back for a lunch; however, probably not for dinner due to the price.

I’ve eaten here many times since it opened. At first I was hopeful that Winnipeg had another restaurant to rival the old staples of The Keg Steakhouse & Bar and Joey Polo Park and Kenaston. Unfortunately it hasn’t turned out that way. The food isn’t bad but is «hit and miss», as is the service. The steak is usually fine but doesn’t compare to the aforementioned restaurants or other top steakhouses in Winnipeg. The salmon is good but for a fish house isn’t as memorable as it should be. On a positive note the restaurant is located close to many airport hotels and has a good atmosphere. If you’re looking for something different from the«normal» this can be an option. Same is true if your tired and just arrived in Winnipeg by air.

Like many of the previous reviews I found Chop to be just ok! We had the beef carpaccio as an appetizer which was alright but a bit small! I had a peppercorn NY steak which was terrible! My date had the beef short rib which tasted like it was braised in a flavorless beef stock… thank god there was salt and pepper on the table! It’s too bad because I did like the atmosphere of Chop but that’s where is ended for me! Disappointing to say the least! Very bland food!

I would not give this place any star if that were possible. I was visiting family and decided to go there for dinner. The menu looked great and elaborate. We waited 25 minutes before the bread was served. It was slightly bigger than my fist and we got two of them put on the table. There were 7 of us. Obviously the bread was gone in a blink of an eye. We asked for more and that took another 10 minutes. I finally asked when our food was coming and the server was very apologetic for the delay. She said they were very backed up. It was a Wednesday night. The place was not that full. 58 minutes later, our meal came. My brother’s prime rib was impossible to be sliced into pieces. It was full of grizzle. My brother returned it. A Manager came and offered to replace it. My brother refused thinking it would be another long wait but the Manager promised it would be quick. replacement came in 5 minutes. My nephew’s rib eye was good, he said. My son’s lobster dinner was great he said. My other son had the NY strip and he enjoyed it. My sister-in-law had the steak bites. It was way too salty. Very salty. I had the cheese bread. It was not far from Domino’s cheese bread. My niece had the steak dinner from the kids menus. It was ok she said. Our server couldn’t stop apologizing and insinuated she would ask her Manager if she could give us something on the house from the dessert menu. We ordered desert. It was nothing special. We had the Trio and Apple Pie. That took another 25 minutes. As soon as that was put on the table, we immediately asked for the check, thinking it might take another half hour for that. Surprisingly, it came it 2 minutes. A VERYBADEXPERIENCE. I WILLNOTRECOMMENDTHISPLACEATALL. You are better off at Boston Pizza. Wasted $ 264.00.

Just want to throw out there… Steak Bites and French Onion Soup! The steak bites are tender and you could imagine they melt in your mouth. They come accompanied with sweet Dijon barbeque and horseradish aioli dipping sauces! The french onion soup is the best I have ever tasted! I think I would ask for just one more slice of cheese on top. That’s my personal cheese obsessed opinion though. As far as the rest of the menu, I have only tried other appetizers which are also very delicious: — Spicy Cashew Snap Peas sautéed with ginger, garlic, sesame and honey. SPICY! — Albacore Tuna Tataki with wasabi aioli, sprinkled with togarashi and served with delicately sliced daikon radish, serrano peppers and celery leaves, tossed in soy garlic lime vinaigrette! Another winner! I’m sure I would appreciate anything this kitchen could serve me. As far as the atmosphere? It’s a great place for a date and getting together with a group of people. It’s classy and trendy. The music can be a tad loud and the lighting a tad dim for my liking but it’s pretty chill. No real complaints, and a 4⁄5 stars definitely means I will return again and again.

Always a great spot in Winnipeg to have a nice business dinner with a solid menu, beautiful dimly lit/stylish décor, excellent wine list and great service. Enjoying a nice bottle of my «go to» wine: J Lohr Cab Sauv. Oh, and Typical Moxie’s, Earl’s style«hiring practices» with their staff. No complaints!

When you want some good(but slightly overpriced) food, this is the place to be. Parking is available along both sides of the building. The establishment is split into 2 areas — bar, and restaurant. I went for the bar seating. The wait staff were all professional and well-dressed, as expected. They have some drink specials, but I went for a Peroni(Italian beer). Pleasantly surprised they served it here. Even though my original intent was to get a steak, the waitress talked me into trying the Arctic char. I was skeptical as most Western places tend to suck at cooking fish(aka too dry), but this dish delivers. The fish was nice and tender. The vegetables had that nice taste of oil(I think it’s olive?) and pepper, and the rice was plain but not bland, and actually went well with the fish. Special mention for this dish. Once again, Chop delivers. I really like how they are able to maintain their standards across the different cities I’ve visited. Recommended.

Chop, Earls, and Moxie’s are all cut from the same mold(or mould, as the Canadians would spell it.) Attractive female waitresses, decent food, chic atmosphere. I refer to these places as the Applebees of the Canada, though in reality the quality of food is much better. Still, Chop is a chain, so don’t expect to be blown away. We come here for our business dinners because you know what you’re getting into. The steak bites here are really good. The steaks are okay, but the Keg definitely has them beat from a steakhouse perspective. They do ½ price wine by the glass on Monday nights, which is a pretty good deal. The tuna here is good, the salads are meh, the mushroom rav is decent. Service in general is pretty disappointing, as it’s always incredibly slow. We only ever sit in the lounge area, but ticket times are a solid 30 – 45 minutes… you’ll never get in and out in less than an hour. There’s always hockey or curling on though, so you can at least enjoy a game, if that’s what you’re into. I’d go 3.5 for each of these places, though I think Chop edges out Moxie’s & and Earls by a hair. I think from a «talent» and food perspective, you’re best off with Chop. For drinks, I’d go Earls. For a date night… I’d find something else.
