Amazing. Some of the best vegan food I’ve ever had. Undoubtedly the best veggie burger I ever tasted(the Vegan Cowboy). I will probably never get the chance to return to Winnipeg, so I genuinely hope this place expands to Montréal and/or to the States.

Large, diverse, flavorful menu of soups, sandwiches, veg. Burgers. Healthy and delicious. Usually lucky to find one or two vegetarian dishes on a menu, love finding three full pages of menu variety.

Tasty, Healthy & Homemade Vegan Food in Winnipeg! I visited Boon Burger Café on Bannatyne Avenue in Winnipeg’s historic Exchange District during the afternoon of January 23rd. I have eaten at Boon Burger many times before this as well(I am a vegetarian who also really enjoys vegan food), at both of their locations. Boon Burger is a casual vegan restaurant that has two locations in Winnipeg — one at 141 Bannatyne and the other at 79 Sherbrook. They serve healthy, homemade and delicious vegan food including fantastic burgers(and they have gluten-free buns which is a bonus for me, as someone with Celiac), salads, French fries, pizza, sandwiches, poutine, homemade ice cream, milkshakes, and more, as well as a selection of bottled healthy beverages like kombucha, naturally brewed ginger ale and root beer, local beer and others. I loved the atmosphere at the Bannatyne location downtown! The restaurant was located inside an historic building in the Exchange District with detailed architecture. The interior walls were all brick and wooden booth lined one of the walls. There was a large window at the front of the restaurant which looked out onto Bannatyne Avenue. In front of the window, inside the restaurant, was a long communal wooden table. The restaurant had a peaceful, calm, relaxed, and comfortable. I ordered the nacho salad along with a naturally brewed bottled ginger ale. Both were absolutely delicious and the salad tasted fresh, flavourful and homemade. The nacho salad consisted of lettuce, tomatoes, chili, red onion, jalapenos, corn chips, green onion, guacamole and salsa. The vegan burgers also taste amazing! I have tried the Buddha Burger, Boon Burger and Vegan Cowboy Burger and I recommend all of them. I love the fact that the vegan patties are homemade from scratch and hand shaped. They have four different patties that you can choose from when designing your burger. The service was very friendly and efficient and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Boon Burger, as well as the previous times I have been here. Even if you aren’t vegan or vegetarian, the food at Boon Burger tastes absolutely delicious and amazing! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone living in or visiting Winnipeg.

Blew my mind! The best hands down vegi burger I have ever had. I wish we had one in Fargo so bad. The recipe for their Boon Patty is great, has the feel of a perfectly prepared burger but a taste that makes you want more. Way to F’n Go!

A wonderful variety that vegetarians don’t normally get. You’ll love every bite but try to leave room for the coconut milk ice cream. Amazing.

ABSOLUTELYTHEBESTBLACKBEANBURGEREVERRR!!! Here visiting from Las Vegas, I was a little bit disappointed with the lack of vegetarian/vegan options. I was lucky to find this gem and it’s right around the corner from our hotel. We had; — kale/arugula salad… Great! — black bean burger… To die for –chili cheeze fries… Man, my kid is the pickiest eater. Especially if it’s“healthy”, she loved it! Definitely will be there again.

Try as I might I just can’t get into their food. Everything tastes the same to me but I can see how people who appreciate vegetarian food would love this place.

First time visiting Winnipeg and within an hour of arrival, two different people recommended I try out a veggie burger at Boon’s. It was within walking distance to my hotel so I did. Ordered a Bacun Cheeze Burger, a side of sesame fries and cane-sugar sweetened lemonade. The highlight was the burger of course, while the sides were ok.(Would skip the fries). The veggie burger smelled and tasted like a Big Mac so it was hard to believe the patty was made if ingredients like black beans, mushrooms, etc. Also, portion was huge! Must try for vegetarians. Vegan and vegetarian restaurants are normally hard to find on big cities so it’s great there is Boon’s Burgers in Winnipeg.

Great food normally, but we have been sitting here for nearly 30 minutes… I’m starving… Does anyone else experience this when eating here?

My 3 year old son has a lot of food allergies. Boons is the only place I have ever been able to take him out to eat. The staff is always so accommodating, understanding and kind. Thank you.

«Tasty» and«vegan» don’t usually end up in the same sentence, but thanks to Boon, they do now! Tucked away on a side street in(mostly) deserted downtown, Boon offers a wide selection of burgers and salads, as well as homemade ice cream, teas, and poutines. My favorite item on the menu is the Thanksgiving burger: «turkey» topped with cranberry sauce, mayo, roasted yams, red onion, lettuce and homemade vegan gravy. It tastes like the best day-after-Thanksgiving sandwich, and I swear, you don’t miss the meat! The menu offers a huge range of unique, satisfying burgers; there’s definitely something for everyone. You can also feel good about supporting Boon, as most of their ingredients are fair trade, organic, and locally sourced. My only complaint is the kitchen is REALLY slow. Both times I’ve been in, the restaurant was nearly empty, but I waited more than 25 minutes for a burger. I’m sure it’s because they take their time to make a quality product, but sometimes… you just want your damn burger.

Very good food. In the past I had tried a gluten free diet and this menu features many GF items. I wasn’t a huge fan of the seating. It happened quite often that I’d be sitting across from a complete stranger. Very small restaurant but really good food!

Really love the taste and variety of burgers here. It’s healthy and the place is clean and cozy. Takeout couldn’t be easier with their iphone app for quick pickup. You’re doing good for your body and soul eating here.

Wonderful food. I had the vegan cowboy burger and it was amazing. I ordered it with the tomato basil bean soup of the day. They have a selection of special sodas and some beers and there is a place you can get your own water. I think the bread made the sandwich. It was a bit messy but so good.

I’ve always been a fan of Boon since they opened. The Sherbrook location has great charm with it’s communal tables but it’s a bit cramped. This new space in the Exchange is beautiful especially since it’s a much larger space. There’s one communal table but lots of individual booths that seat up to 4 along with a number of small tables outside on the sidewalk. The menu is the same as the other location with the same food quality. The only difference I noticed here is that there’s no dedicated«pick up only» parking space, like there is at the Sherbrook location. Parking sucks during the daytime M-F especially if you’re just trying to quickly pick up food here. I parked in a loading zone and ran in to get my food as there were no meter parking available. But if you work near here, this is a great place to go to for lunch or if you come here after 530 pm(M-F) when parking is free and the daytime rush is gone.
