I literally cannot rave enough about this place. The atmosphere, from the secret door in the front coffee shop to the dimly lit ‘20s speakeasy style restaurant, was the perfect mix of casual and sophisticated. The food itself was amazing. I had the fish special, which was at the time a chickpea encrusted cod filet, which was fresh, and seasoned perfectly for a bright, citrusy flavor. We had a sour cherry tart for dessert which was just awesome. Now, the cocktails here are even better than the food. I’m not a huge fan of overly sweet cocktails, and when I informed our server/barkeep, he not only recommended me a fantastic choice(the Lady Elena) but also made it less sweet with extra bitters. It was hands down the best cocktail I’ve had out. The St. Boniface was also amazing. Definitely take the time to spend an evening here, it’s worth it!

I was so excited to try this place, and I admit it’s because Bistro was one of my favourite places. We had a res in the Resturant side but added a friend so we sat in the lounge. The secret entrance is cool. The décor is really impressive. I’m glad they kept the open kitchen concept and opened the lounge and Resturant. Two of ordered some delishes cocktails. The Lady Elena and Salma Hayek. After confirming our online view of the menu, we thought we ordered the Fromage En Croute but received the Charcuterie. With the hardest crostini I have ever encountered. Followed by some really great Moules, Marinieres. So good. Then finished with the wild mushroom rav, which was very flavourful but under cooked. Over all. I’d go back for mussels and cocktails. I was so disappointed with the food and service but I feel like I do need to give it another chance because I was holding it against Bistro 71⁄4.

My friend and I made a reservation weeks ago. We were given a tiny table right next to the kitchen, however as soon as we asked to be moved, we were. The décor is great, the noise-level really high. Lighting is quite dark, we observed some people using the flashlight on their phones to read the menu which is gold printing on a shiny black card. The menu selection is interesting and the food well prepared. We thought it might have been fun to have named the dishes following the prohibition theme. We were surprised at some«blips» where if you are aiming for a certain clientele, should not happen. Who drinks Herbal tea with milk? This never ceases to amaze me. Also, I had to ask for sugar AND A SPOON for my Espresso. The only other«bug» was that the wait staff were too eager to remove my empty plate, even though my friend was still eating. We enjoyed the food, however desert was not offered. Lost business, to my mind. We’ll probably give it another try.

Really cool vibe, great service and great food. Handmade old school cocktails are fantastic.

This place is amazing. Want an actual unique concept in winnipeg then go check this out. Reviews from people who frequent Wendy’s should be viewed as the nonsense they are. Enjoy somehing different and treat yourself to Blind Tiger.

This is the new coffee shop by day and French-inspired dinner place by night. Blind Tiger replaces Bistro 7−¼ in a speakeasy concept with its prohibition era-inspired cocktails. This place is a collaboration between Jack Moslehi, owner of 441 Main and Noël Bernier of FB Hospitality(also known for Hermanos, Prairie 360, Carnival etc and nearly every other new restaurant in the last few years). The space is cool as the coffee shop area, which is really small has a «secret» wall that opens into the restaurant space in the evening. The décor has changed quite a bit but the actual space with the open kitchen and the lounge on one side is still the same as Bistro. The space is really dark with interesting Prohibition style vibe. The cocktail menu is interesting and I had a great drink — Lady Elena($ 9) — rye whiskey, earl grey tea, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, sugar and cardamom bitters. It has a citrus note but not overpowering as it’s balanced by tea and cardamom bitters. The food menu has half and full pound mussels(4 flavours), deviled eggs, appetizers and about 5 main dishes that were in the mid to high $ 20 range. Had the half pound mussels($ 9) with fries — flavours were good and fries were thin and crispy. Also had a modern take on the Nicoise salad($ 15) served with seared ahi tuna with cherry tomatoes, green beans served on a bed of tapenade. The ravioli filled with your choice of duck confit or mushrooms($ 12), I chose duck confit. This was probably the most disappointing dish as there was 5 small ravioli that didn’t have much flavour. The place recently opened late November 2015 but service was friendly and professional from hostess to server. Food was average with no notable standouts but cool space for some cocktails. Something to note, there’s no phone number listed anywhere for this place that I could find, so if you want to make reservations, do it through Open Table.
