Specialties

We carry quality pets and pet supplies. Live fish, birds, rodents and reptiles, and all the supplies and advice to keep them happy and healthy.

For Dogs and Cats, we carry high quality pet foods, including Eagle, Holistic Select, Nutrisource, Acana and Orijen. Unique pet supplies, including training aids and toys/treats for specialized needs. And just about everything else your pet could want or need.

Is your pet overweight? We have answers for you. Tartar problems and bad breath? Do they pull when walking? Shed too much? We have products that help all these conditions, come on in and talk to an expert.

We also have premium pet grooming service for small breed dogs only. Our one on one approach gives dogs a much better grooming experience, only one dog is in the shop at a time, and Jackie does all the work, from bathing through the final finish. This allows for a bonding to take place, where the dog can build up trust, and have a stress free time at the spa.

History

Established in 1999.

Serving St. Vital for the entire millenium, we live here in the community. We are committed to taking great care of our customers, and rely on word of mouth as our main advertising. And it works.

When you take the time to have products in stock that people want/need, and to keep current the latest information, customers notice. And they talk about it.

No commissions or quotas, our staff are here to help you. Everyone here has a genuine love of animals, and are committed to getting you the best products for your pet.

Meet the Business Owner

Jeff M.

Business Owner

Hi,

I’ve been involved in the pet business almost all my life, raising fish and rodents since I was 10. And I always seem to come back to it.

I moved my family here from Toronto to start Aardvark Pets. Winnipegers by choice, we love the city, and the people here. And we’re involved in the community, I’m past president of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada, Winnipeg Chapter, and my wife is District Co-ordinator of Girl Guides.

I have a daughter, Mary, who wants to work with animals when she grows up, and a dog, Zoey (Mini Schnauzer) and a cat, Streaky Bell (Bengal), in addition to all the pets I have at work.

Come on in and talk with me, I pride myself on my pet knowledge. I may not always have the answer, but I will know where to get the answer. And everytime I get a challenge, it make me learn a little more, which I love.
