This place is the bomb. It holds a special place in my heart as my niece was married here several years ago. The Victorian Manor harkens back to a bygone era… when life was slower and people took the time to stop and smell the flowers. Beautiful gardens, in a great location(old Walkerville), beautifully maintained grounds… a wonderful addition to the city. Try to plan on visiting during Art in the Park… an annual festival that brings local artists to the grounds, where you can stroll the gardens and buy some one of a kind art. Only issue is parking is horrendous, with a capital H. Far and away my favourite place to unwind in Windsor.

Willistead manor was built by Edward Chandler Walker, second son of Hiram Walker, and named in honour of the builder’s older brother, Willis Walker. Designed by noted Detroit architect Albert Kahn to reflect 16th Century Tudor-Jacobean architecture, it was built with the ingenuity of 20th Century amenities. Now an event center we happily attended a wedding this past weekend. The venue is old but well maintained. There is a wonderful terrace and small lawn on the back side of the property where the ceremony was held… beautiful. There are several rooms throughout used for sit down dining, dancing, bar areas and cake display. The massive oak doors welcome you and make you feel as if you have been transported back in time once you pass through. There are plenty of nooks and crannies for wonderful picture ops… and not just for the wedding party! We had a great time, enjoyed an amazing union between two wonderful friends … and laughed, drank, danced and partied the evening away!
