History
Established in 2006.
Built in 1977 as a convent and completely renovated in 2006, University Place the character of a European Hotel. The business is family owned and operated, so the level of service and value is of personal interest to everyone on staff. Mike and his team were personally invited by the Holy Names Sisters to consider putting their former mother-house to good purpose as they ended their stay. Looking at the needs of travelers, professionals and mature students a hybrid was created: low cost «European sized» rooms with the privacy and convenience of en-suite bathrooms for every room. Our guests benefit with lodging house prices with North American standards for privacy, cleanliness, security, comfort and quiet.
Out of respect for the long tradition of service (the Sister’s Motherhouse has been located here since 1864) the Chapel has been preserved and now serves for Weddings and special services as requested by our guests.

Mike (General Manager) and Anh (Food Services Manager) enjoy extending their home style hospitality and meeting people from around the world. Already since opening only 7+ years ago the world map in the hallway is full of pins indicating the origins of an impressive number of guests. Given the opportunity to develop their home as a bed and breakfast or to take on this larger project Mike and Anh dove in with all their energy to make staying at University Place an affordable refuge for all their guests.
