The only good thing about Sunset Café is the location(right on the University behind Odette School of Business). Otherwise, I’d avoid it. Sunset Café is a little house that serves food up real fast. Things like pizza, burgers, gyros, shawarma’s, etc. I’m sure you’ve seen the advertisements walking down Sunset Ave.(They have them sticking up on their lawn). The menu is large, but the prices are a little high for sub-par quality food. There are much better places around the University that you can hit up other than this place. The service is alright. You can tell the people working there don’t really want to be there. Sunset Café used to be halfway decent when it was run by Pizza Plus, but they changed under new management and the menu got even crappier.(Prices also are slightly higher). I’ve had a good amount of things here from before. They used to have really cheap fried chicken express meals, but there really isn’t any reason to continue reviewing it, because they scrapped it from the menu. Now they have some heat-lamped chicken sitting in its pool of juices and fat.(They proudly display it too. If they hid it, at least they could have tricked someone into buying it). The pizza there always looks old. Maybe I go at the wrong times? The taste isn’t bad, but it doesn’t necessarily make your mouth salivate. The shawarma is actually decent and it comes with fries and pop for about $ 5.99, but you can get much better shawarma down Wyandotte or University. The prices are kind of high for food that just isn’t that good. They even charge Arizona Iced Teas at a premium!(They charge $ 1.50 when the can itself says 99 cents!?) For the prices and the quality of food, just keep walking by and get something else.
