Wanted to go to Spago’s in south Windsor today for lunch with my friend. On their website it says that the place opens at 1130 for lunch. We get there at 1210, and guess what? Still closed. No sign on the door to say what time they open. We did see some staff people inside already, but when we knocked on the door, no one even bothered to come and and let us know if they were opening any time soon. We waited there in front on the restaurant till 1220, saw some people try to get in as well. Finally decided to drive somewhere else where we were welcomed. And also while waiting we tried to call the restaurant to see what time they were opening, and of course no one answered again. Very disappointed :(

Another Spago location and the same incredible food. All 100% authentic homemade Italian meals as always at Spagos at reasonable prices. I have been to the Erie Street location many many times and I thought I would venture over to the new Spago. It’s right next to Tim’s, so it was nice to go next door, get a coffee and hang with the locals a bit. The restaurant is much larger than the Erie Street location… and always, you can see right into the kitchen. Service is probably the best of any restaurant I have ever been to. A maître d’ with his keen eye on many servers with arms coming out of nowhere to refill your wine glass… nothing out of place, never having to ask for a thing… it is like the waitstaff can read your mind here. The bread that they bring you with the roasted garlic and olive oil is very good. The roasted garlic is soft to spread on the homemade bread. Started of with Stracciatella a soup of fresh seasonings, eggs, spinach, parmesan in a light chicken broth… for the main course it was their classic rigitoni with sauteed chopped onions, garlic, lean bacon, zucchini, sun-dried tomatoes, black olives and capers tossed in a white wine sauce with a hint of blue cheese. I normally would never, ever order anything with blue cheese other than this dish… it was excellent. Hard to come here and not have a pizza… Spago and Remo’s are the best for true Italian pizza.
