I have been here several times with varying degrees of success. My most recent visit however was terrible. Every single item ordered came out with the wrong ingredients. The most upsetting part about the experience is that the owner was the person making the rolls and when we complained to the server he did not even offer an apology, never mind correcting the problem. I will not be visiting again.

This could be a five star place but they seriously need to fix their lunch hours. First I call at 11:45 I order the daily special and she tells me it’ll be one hour they just got a huge order in? Another time I call at. 11:35 they say they haven’t made rice and will open at noon. So I go at noon to find a note on the door saying they are opening at 12:30 today, SERIOUSLY! This is the business district we have limited lunch time. At one point they closed for over a month with not even a message on their machine explaining how long they would be closed. Had no idea if they closed for good? Sushi is good but over priced, the lunch special is the only fair priced items. Staff don’t look happy to be working and occasionally we get the waitress with an attitude, totally ruins your lunch. sorry we’re bothering you. Once was asked if I could go get the right change so she wouldn’t have to go to the bank, really! Again could be the best in the city but owners don’t seem to care about this location as much as their Dougal spot.

This was my first time at this location… Pretty unimpressive. It was a nice Sunny evening, not humid or hot– perfect patio weather– they do have a great patio here. We ate outside, our waitress was terrible. She was pleasant, but in no way did it seem she wanted to engage with us or serve us. If we asked questions, she really didn’t answer them…(Sorry to bother you, but what’s in this roll? Uh…) I found the roll prices a but much– $ 10−16/roll. But they are huge! My friend had the black widow, it was good. I tried the green dragon– excellent! Did not disappoint! However the rolls were so big, you kind of get tired of yours or your friends before you finish. And, I’m weird so I don’t like leftover sushi… just order what I’ll eat… and I’d like to order two kinds to try. We also ordered appetizers. I had ordered scallops, when they were described, at no point was I told it was a salad in a cup with chips… It was delicious– and pretty, but not what I expected.(But for $ 10 ouch!) My friend had the spring rolls, her order came our long before my app. Just makes it awkward when you are dining together… A little communication from the server would be clutch ie. ‘I’ll be back with yours’ ‘these were ready, didn’t want to serve them cold 2min for your scallops’. Rather then place them down… And disappear. The only time we saw our server was when she dropped food on our table, then went to visit with friends loitering on the patio… And smoking ‘outside the patio’ but leaning on the wall. So not really abiding by the don’t smoke near the patrons policy. Disgusting. Pity the service is crap here and the prices are so high… I’d go back if that changes. But… that’s mainly why my star rating fell so low. To bad. the food is good, wish I could eat bigger portions /justify spending so much to try more then one roll.

Holy I wish I had checked Unilocal first! After a LONG day of wandering Windsor and feeling beat, I plopped down into the Iguana looking for a light lunch. Sushi sounded great because I was sweating from everywhere! I walked in, was greeted by a friendly waitress, ordered a glass of wine, and got ready to enjoy a nice lunch. Besides the service, the rest of this visit was disappointing. Roll selection = dismal/plain. Mostly plain rolls(read: just tuna, just salmon… no cucumber/avocado/veg…). Size of fish = Giant! And at first glance that is good except… Quality of fish = BLECK! Long fatty strands hanging all over. Slightly soured. Mushy. Roll overall tasted terrible. I tried to add the yellowed lettuce and 2 cucumbers to my 2 rolls to make them more palatable, but it didn’t really help. Also, that sauce is disgusting and drippy and gloppy. I do not want to know what it is made off. Worst 35 dollars I’ve ever spent…

I want to give them 2−½ to 3 stars for effort, but I will err on the cautious side here and stick with 2. I’m making this decision with the person in mind who makes fish purchases. «Should I spend a little more and buy the better fish? Nah, I’ll save some money and just go lowball». «Should I toss this out tonight or save it one more day? Eccch. Keep it and add a little extra sauce tomorrow. « Iguana is all about the roll and the sauce and the counter and the music and the space and NOT the sushi. Sadly, two stars it is folks.

I love going to Iguana’s South Windsor location. It has a great décor, the service is excellent, and most importantly, the sushi is fresh and delish. Iguana’s atmosphere offers such versatility– whether you want to grab some quick sashimi before heading to Lifestyles gym or leisurely enjoy a nice dinner and drinks with friends. Personally, it holds a special place in my heart due to the fact that it’s a Holy Names High School reunion every time I step foot in that place. Nostalgia aside, it’s a great place.

While I had some issues with Iguana Sushi, I do think I will give it another try at some point. What I liked: funky décor; helpful, knowledgeable server; the spider and gemini rolls. Less good: cash only; the miso soup(normally miso soup is nectar to me, but I couldn’t finish mine, and my companion disliked his, too); Iguana dipping sauce(it’s complimentary, and avoidable, though); limited beer selection(Canadian, Coors Light, Bud Light Lime, Corona and Sapporo … they were out of Sapporo when we went!). Our sushi rolls took a while(we got a cucumber-avocado roll as well — it was ok), but I don’t know if I’d say it was excessively slow. Next time, if I return, I will avoid the miso soup, and probably try another type of roll.

Overpriced Sushi at a nice location. Iguana is a cool place with their décor and everything, but the sushi was kind of subpar and overly expensive in my opinion. The place is a real hole in the wall and the interior is real nice(cool iguana on the ceiling). The service seemed a bit rushed though there was only a couple patrons when we went. The menu isn’t too big, which can be good because they may specialize in some items. Their regular rolls(about 8 pieces) hovered around $ 9, while their special rolls(8 – 10 pieces) were around $ 15. We decided to get several rolls and a couple orders of their spring rolls to try. We ordered a crab roll($ 7), calamari roll($ 9.50), and shrimp tempura roll($ 9.50). The crab roll was good. It’s just sushi with crab. Nothing exciting, but the pieces of imitation crab were plump. The shrimp tempura roll and calamari roll were both just not that great. Didn’t hold together well. It fell apart when you tried to pick it up with your chopsticks. I’m hoping this was a one time thing, cause even the most basic restaurants who don’t serve solely sushi could put a roll together more tightly. The shrimp tempura roll didn’t really pack too much flavor. The calamari roll just isn’t worth the money. Small pieces of calamari that tasted weak. The spring rolls were actually really good. Fried perfectly with a nice crisp skin and fillings that tasted good. The Iguana sauce is perfect for it. Their iguana sauce is a lightly colored rich sweet tangy sesame based sauce. Went well with the sushi and tasted like it could be good for other things as well. Overall though, the place was kind of a disappointment. The sushi quality just isn’t there. It’s kind of disappointing to see better sushi made at much cheaper restaurants. Everything on the menu is pricey and that’s justified when you provide high quality stuff, but this place didn’t bring it. The 3 rolls and spring rolls cost us $ 35 before tip. The best thing about it was the Iguana sauce. Other than that, I’d rather just save the money and go to a sushi buffet if it was going to be the same price and quality anyways… P. Excellent, Excellent Sushi. It’s a bit on the pricier side and it’s a pretty small place but quality and taste wise it’s one of the best I’ve tried. Everything we tried was excellent and the Iguana sauce is really really good. If you’re looking for good sushi in Windsor, I’d definitely give this a shot.

I stopped by here with a friend on my way back to the states. Since it was a Sunday night, we were having some trouble finding an open sushi place and Iguana was the only one so we figured we’d give it a shot. The décor was woodsy and the whole place had a pretty nice hole-in-the-wall vibe(and a giant Iguana on the ceiling made for an interesting conversation piece). I was pleasantly surprised with the selection. The price was a little heftier than I’m used to but considering the dollar conversion it could have been worse. I was pleased with the quality — the spider rolls in particular were better than most.
