It is such a delight to be able to enjoy quality dining presented in an understated and classic way to match the unrivalled beauty that is the Muskokas. I stayed at the Windermere House for a wedding, so not only did I have the opportunity to eat at the restaurant, but the courses were also dressed up for the wedding. The appetizers were absolutely delectable — flavourful truffle mushroom soup and refreshing sweet pea soup. Their caprese salad also hit the spot. The entrees were equally delicious — great lamb burger, steak and frites, but as expected of a dish in the Muskokas, fresh Ontario trout with fried skin was the star of all the dishes. To tie it all together, the veranda. Oh the veranda. It’s just idyllic to sit on the veranda, enjoy drinks and take in the view after a nice dip in the lake, however, the highlight of my dining experience was really their white sangria. On Sangria Sundays, an entire pitcher is only $ 20, so prepare for your future summers to be filled with sweet delicious flavour.

Both the downstairs pub and Rosseau Grill at Windermere House are operated by O&B so admittedly my expectations were high given I’ve dined at their restaurants many times around Toronto. Food was very good and very fresh, in fact exceeded my expectations. Between the two of us had the citrus cured tuna and heirloom salad for appetizers, braised short rib and Sunday night prime rib for mains. Would recommend all of it, no complaints at all. Skillet s’mores a MUST for dessert(while in Muskoka…) Service was solid. First weekend they were open this summer, so a few minor kinks, but certainly a bona fide dining destination in Muskoka.
